That has a nice ring to it. I could live with that. At least it's a better description of its purpose than "mini-buggy" which just sounds like a toy.

can we agree to call them mini-buggies?

Stu from Blade used the term "Trail Buggies" in a post he made a couple of days ago. I think that is a perfect description for our buggies. Definitly sets us apart from the bigger sand rails.

Dear Andrew,

We currently build mini-sandrails that can accommodate a variety of engines that are already CARB-EPA certified for off-road use. Our frames are sent to dealers in some cases without engines. The customer can choose from 650cc to 993cc. These engines are made by Honda, Robin Subaru, Briggs & Stratton and Kohler. We decided to use these CARB-EPA certified engines because they are over 4,000 service centers in USA and CANADA for repairing and doing warranty work on these engines. The same exhaust is used for every model. They are the very best small horsepower engines on the market today. These engines have a two year part and labor warranty while most go-kart companies that import Chinese go-kart or sandrails only offer a 30-90 day parts only warranty at best. Our customer currently selects the buggy they want and then the engine that is most suitable for their needs. Some parents are buying these mini-sandrails for their younger children so they might want a 18hp instead of a 50hp for their children. With the new rules will we be allowed to continue to use these engines or will we have to get CARB-EPA on each engine for each frame. I am in favor of only certifying the engine instead of the frame even if it costs more money. If this is going to change then I suggest CARB-EPA give the manufacturers the option of either certifying the engine or frame or grandfather companies like us. Why anyone would want to certify an engine with a frame makes no sense to me. We currently use these engines in four different frames. We were the first to sell CARB-EPA certified sandrails in California and this new ruling would change what we have been doing. These are only about 4-6 engines that the larger sandrails use in their sandrails and I am sure they would all rather just certify their choice of engine and then put in whatever vehicle they choose. We currently have four different models and we could not afford to certify every possible engine configuration that our customers want. Giving our customer the choice of one engine would not be good for our customer. Thank you.

I would suggest not calling them sand rails as they are not and I don't think you want to be included with them as the previous posters stated. Completely different product.
