Last night I posted in the "Engine Clinic - Mini Off Road Buggy" forum under the subject line "Stator / CDI / Ignition Voltage Waveforms".

All but one of my pics are labeled as deleted or moved from photobucket. But they aren't. I'm stumped.

When I look at the links to the missing pictures (right click on picture, click on properties) I notice two things:

1) A mysterious "%20" gets inserted in the link address. For example a link like "address\blahblahblah.jpg" got changed to "address\blahblahblah.j%20pg" . It seems to be at a fixed number of bytes from the beginning of the link.

2) On other links the end of the link address is just plain cut off before the end.

This extra text and truncated link stuff was not present in the raw text I entered while composing the text. I used the copy and paste from photobucket to insert links so there shouldn't be typo issues. I've done this before on other forums with no problems. And the entire message previewed perfectly before I hit the submit button.

So what happened to the links? Any ideas? Is there any way for me to fix this from my end?

Also, why did it post twice? I only hit the submit button once.

If anyone has ideas I'd appreciate it. I'm currently out of ideas
at this end.

Thanks,

Lynn Edwards

PS: With your indulgence let me try to post two of the pic's here to see if it works this time (two pictures since the first one worked last time, the problem started with the second one...):

Either the image path or image name is too long. That is why some pictures came through. Rename your Photobucket pictures with shorter names and repost under the same forum. You will find that will work.

I could not duplicate the addition of a %20 to your file location - This usually means you added a space in the name. This may be inserted automatically by the forum input filter to parse the information better on the screen.

Yes when I view the raw post the text in the links is correct. The %20 is being added by the forum software. Those are commonly inserted in file names that contain spaces since URLs can't have spaces. But your links DON'T have spaces. I'm thinking the forum code has a limited line length issue and your over-long filenames are treated like there's a word-wrap, or break, in the text. This makes more sense with your observation that the characters are appearing at the same relative position in the length of the link.

It's a bug that might go away as BN gets updated (currently in process) or it might not. The only sure fix right now is to keep file names short in your Photobucket uploads.

It's fixed in the newest version of the forumn software. I too ran into the long file name issue a while back. I have my photobucket images in various folders.. It's the lenght of the entire path that ends up being an issue.
As Mark indicated, there's a good chance it will get corrected with the updates that have been going in.

Thanks for your help. I'm in the process of uploading the same pics to photobucket with shorter file names. Then I'll try posting again.
