Ya, I had a half windshield before and didn't think it would be all that much better, but it is a huge improvement. More than half LOL

Those bolts at the front of the skidplate are rather small for the job they are doing. Add a little corrosion and wear & tear and I don't know if they would come out clean for anyone after a few years.

The boltheads at the back of the skidplate, on bottom, were so beat up I could barely get a wrench on them.

Just looking at it ahead of time, I knew taking it off would be a pain, but I ended up having no choice trying to get the winch in. That's like solving a rubiks cube in a straight jacket.

This also has a plastic one that goes farther back with a third pair of bolts. I didn't need to fully remove it since I could just push it down out of the way with the front 4 bolts removed.

It has an aluminum diamond plate skid plate painted black covering the plastic. I don't know if it was stock or not. I'll take a pic before I put it back on.

hmmm i'm not seeing that on this one. if memory is right just the plastic one up front and a little plastic one at back you have to take off to change rear brake pads. all the rest is a welded thin metal plate with holes in it.
put up some pictures if you can

Now that I've had a good close look at it, it doesn't look stock to me. It looks home-made, but not a bad job. They made this to match:

Here is the plastic mud guard, I think this probably matches what you have.

I got the front attached. I had to drill out the backing nuts because, well, one still had half a bolt in it and the other was no good. Replaced with 1/4" bolts. The holes at the back were too screwed up. The frame where they attach is 1"x3" square tube and I couldn't get anything to hold in the existing holes, so I am going to have to drill all the way through. I didn't have any bolts long enough for that (closest store is 26 miles away), so that part isn't done. You can see my clamp at the back.

ok i see what you are talking about, i like that.this one has a plastic guard there. its helps to have something there keep stuff out of radiator
the one time i had this one buried bad i had to clean small sticks and thing of radiator and cooler.the radiators does get plugged up pretty easy.
like that winch controler wish this one was like that.i have to open windshield reach arm through to work it i put a rope on cable when i when to pulled alittle out or in, real pain if your by your self.if i go out and pull the lever to go free wheel the cable looks like a open face fishing reel with a bird nest in it. :D
thats why i need new cable or rope.

nice pictures

I'm pretty glad I got this with that skid plate. I think I would have destroyed that plastic piece without it. It has huge gashes and dents in it. The photo of it isn't great, but that is after I flattened it as well as I could.

We have a lot of lava rocks all over the ground here, and they often are hidden in the grass. If I didn't have that, I would have had to get one for sure.

yep there definitely needs to be something there more than the plastic one.i have hit this one a lot on either side.
the one we made is over kill mean plate was pretty thick had to use a torch to bend it but its what the little plow hooks to.i wish i had the money for a bigger plow made for the rhino.if i bought one it wouldn't snow as long as i had it though :) i could clean the road and some drive ways though state road don't do much now days or even pull ditch's. but i won't get into that just po me more :)
like the windshield to.see the opening around the steering column thats one place a had snow blowing through it.after i wrapped a rag around also notice it cut down on cold air to.
being out in the colds is not bad if your moving but setting you can get cold pretty easy.in the past i have gotten a couple tickets from inspector for not wearing steel toed shoes they will freeze you feet off in winter setting on a piece of equipment

I've thought about getting a plow for mine, but we haven't had enough snow here in 10 years to justify it. I have the opposite concern, that if I got one, we'd start getting snow. LOL

I've plowed snow with almost everything there is (for a civilian) to plow with: pickups, bronco/blazers, 4-wheelers, my dad's rhino, tractor with bucket, garden tractor, and nothing beats a 6-wheel skid steer, like an Argo or Max (like Wetsu's avatar). We had a Max with a 6' plow growing up in AK and that thing was awesome. No reversing, just whip a 180 as you hit the snowbank and head back the other direction.

Post a pic of the plate you made when you get a chance.

the plate looks almost like yours but it metal i think 1/4 inch.
when we did this the riding gravely tractor we had was down had clutch out of it.we just used scrap metal we had laying around plus a plow off a small riding lawnmower its not made heavy and can't believe it has lasted this long but i don't get rough with it.we had planned on getting a snow plow for this and still may have to, just getting by for now.
i really need to dress up the cut part of plate with a grinder better and paint it, this was only a couple three hour job.i have had it off but its always cold :) the arm needs to be drop more so blade won't roll forward so much but it works for keeping drive way open.and really need it now with mothers helpless new car.has this traction control bs get into a couple inch's of snow it quits pulling.they send these cars to these parts without a way to turn it off, like some you can.alot here not happy with the new focus's and are trading them off.

Finally got a pic of the rhino and benneche together. Was not a good pic cause couldn't get the young ones to be still long enough. Once my brother and I finally pryed the kids from the toys we took them down to the field to get a side by side drag race. After about 3 passes best we can tell the Bennche pulled the rhino about 1 length on take off every time and that was all it took to beat the rhino. After the start both seem to power thru about the same. Kinda suprised me that the 700efi bennche didn't just run off and leave me sitting still. I do however contribute alot of it to the "performance" cdi, I believe if the stock cdi had been used there would have been alot more distance between the back of the bennche and front of the rhino.

The Bennche seems to be doing good. He said the only problem has been the park brake no longer works. I told him it was most likely the cable came off from one end but we did not take anything off to look.

The wheels are aluminium 12" with stock 25s. 25x8x12 front 25x10x12 rear. It is a little narrow on the rear but with him only using it around the house it feels plenty stable. I think if he ever gets to trail riding much he will want spacers or a different offset to the rear wheels.

The rhino has solid axle atv wheels and makes the rear a little wider and it really plants it on the ground in most any terrain.

my bad i was thinking it was the back one its not a bad looking machine. those tires definitely look bigger then the one i saw or glanced over. it didn't have aluminum wheels like this one.matter of fact that was the first thing i notice, thought the tire was not very big.they may not have been stock and some bought or put on what they could aford.

a wider stance in the back makes a difference. that was one of yamaha fix's
they called this one back took the stabilizer bar off back and added wheel spacers.they said they had to do it but gave us the bar back said we could change it back if we wanted but they had to do it.
i like it much better now more stable and has more lean, i think.i have went through wash outs and have one side of front or other has been off the ground don't feel like your going over.

looks like you guys live out in the country saw the round bails of hay
