I am just finishing a rebuild on a quad that the injection pump went bad on. Pre mixing leaves no doubt and no chance of running out of oil unexpectedly. also no extra tank, lines or wiring to deal with.

I agree with lumberjack. I have removed the oil tanks on many of those injected 2 stroke dirt bikes so they could be driven. they do seem to fail quite a bit. Just mix the gas you can even put a little extra in for good measure. Not to much though.
Jabo, You can dial in the perfect premix. Just keep notes til you get the perfect Mix. If you don't have a racing gas can - get one with a special color and you'll all ways know which can is the premix. They make Sharpies to ya know....... Remember , The weight you take off = added HP. An extra oil tank would add a couple of pounds.
I looked at the new "Can-AM" 800cc Fourwheeler the other day. It has a Rotax V=twin 800cc..... And its a Belt Drive !
I couldn't even see the Body of the Fourwheeler . All I could drool over was the big ROTAX engine sitting in that thing.
Felt like that kid on the Christmas Movie " I want a new Rotax 800cc engine for my Dazon." YOU"LL KNOCK YOUR EYE's OUT WITH THAT THING KID

A friend of mine has that Can-Am 800. More power than you could ever even need. Gives every quad in our riding group a serious spanking including the Polaris 800 (just barely beats my Twister. ). Downside is he paid over $10,000 for it.

I had a Polaris 350L at one time. Great machine, power like crazy. Just needed to be worked on. I guess it likes attention. The only thing I would for sure do with this project: eliminate the water pump, and put an inline pump between the head and radiator. Those seals WILL go bad(just a design feature), and when they do...Water gets into the counterbalance case. and mixes with the oil. Bearings go down, and it's back to the shop. I would take the impeller off, and place an extra seal on the shaft. Just my .02 If you keep it... When mine went down, I used JB Weld on the shaft, to fix the groove. It works...just make sure everything is clean, and that you sand it down the exact diameter of the shaft. Hope it works great!! I would love to see a kart with the front-end sky-high!!
