Well went today and put deposit on 09 rzr-s comeing in dec, dealers only get 2 machines each then no more till spring. So if i was to get one its now or never(spring).Igot to ride a rzr in parking lot and it really goes!!!
That's polaris keeping excitement and therefore prices up on their RZR line. One of the most frustrating things has been the $10,000 RZR's that turn into $14,000 RZRs just because demand exceeds supply. At this point you'll never convince me Polaris isn't doing this dirty diaper on purpose.

This "dirty diaper" is just business in a modern, competitive world. Long gone are the days someone can make a widget & sell at a good profit for 50 years without making any changes. Nearly every product you buy has been "improved" with useless bells & whistles they convince you that you MUST have so you'll landfill your old "outdated" model.

I don't know if you keep up on the Polaris forums but don't push your dealer to get you one sooner. There hasn't been any announcement of this yet but the parts diagrams for the 09 Rzrs show that for units built after October 16 there's an electric-locking rear differential. Polaris is keeping this huge change under their hat--maybe so buyers won't cancel their orders & wait for it.
If you ride twisty trails or on pavement having an open rear diff.--without sacrificing locking 4WD when desired--is a huge improvement. This diff. has been used for years on the full-size Ranger and the 09 export Rzr apparently already have it, too.
Credit goes to our own "firstatv_700efi" for being the first to find this.

Except it puts the competitve pressure on the customers, rather than the manufacturers and dealers. I've heard story after story of RZRs on back order being hopped up with aftermarket parts and the price being raised by thousands, then when teh first guy on the waiting list complains, they just sell it to the next guy. Same thing happened with Rhinos, but that has levelled out.
I'm a fan of the RZR. I thin it's a great machine. I just think Polaris needs to to a little more to make sure supply meets demand better.

I've heard of lots of price gouging in the west but in the rest of the country it's common to find a Rzr sitting in the showroom. My first one I got on the list but specifically for a base model. The 2nd one was bought off the floor & I had them remove all the options.

The info itself was found on Polaris' website in the Parts section. For an '09 standard & S model there are 2 diagrams for the rear gearcase--1 for pre-10/16 and 1 for after. Here's the after:
Notice the spider gears & item #27--"2410368 Solenoid, Diff Lock"

Since yesterday I've seen a couple posts from foreign owners who say their export versions do NOT have a "turf mode" differential. Don't know why the parts diagram shows only that version for 09 export models.
