Hello, I ran into this forum and was amazed by the expertise! So I decided to give it a spin. My issue is with my Roketa 150cc gy6 dune buggy. It use to start on the first crank, however now you'll have to let it crank until the battery is nearly dead, then it will run - but will die randomly.

The history of the gokart: The original owner was not mechanically inclined at all, managed to blow the original motor - replaced it with a 150cc and added some items to bump it to 200cc. Once I purchased it from him, I replaced the starter, solenoid, and ignition coil.

However I am certain that the vacuum lines are incorrectly connected - I was curious if anyone knew where the vacuum lines go? I have 2 T's that he intertwined and the fuel goes straight from the top petcock to the middle of the carb.

Also, my Fuel Diaphragm is leaking, Where should I go about purchasing one?

Hi Mark,

One of the more common reasons for a buggy to be difficult to start (assuming all other things are hooked up correctly...) is your valve adjustments.

Take a look at the tutorial here and give that a try. Worst case scenario: your valve settings are correctly verified and you're still in the same boat.

It's been known to clear up the hard-starting issue so give it a try!

2 T's for a vacuum petcock something don't sound wright.
yep you need to replace it, if its leaking. if you hook it up you will dump gas into your engine through vacuum line going into intake flooding it out or draining tank into engine
i would get the manual shut off style petcock. than all you need is vacuum line from passenger side of carb to nipple sticking out on drivers side of intake.than turn your gas on and off when not running

Unless you have a pumper carb....I think your vacumn diaphram is leaking (because it is hooked to the fuel side)
The vacumn line from the top of the carb (diaphram) runs to the manifold. The only T should on this line. From that T a line will run to the vacumn petcock. (If I remember right it was the bottom conection on the petcock) The fuel line should run directly to the gas bowl on the carb. (no T)
The petcock operation can be verified by connecting a vacumn source to the bottom and seeing if gas flows with vacumn supplied. ( I'm sure it's the bottom and is a smaller line... but try both if they are the same size) If gas doesn't flow with vacumn supplied... blow back through the gas side of the valve.. If that clears it add some carb cleaner to the gas.
Valve ajustment will clear most hard start problems but may not help much if lines are not correct
If it turns out your carb diaphram is leaking you may want to consider a new carb...diaphram are about $15-20 chokes about $15 if diaphram is bad.. how long until everything needs to be replaced. (Carbs $30 or less)

i reread that must have not read it wright the first time
does sound as the vacuum line for petcock is hook to supply gas to carb. i could see that if diagfram is bad in petcock it will let gas through that end.
just don't understand 2 T's

I noticed after investigating my fuel petcock situation that the gokart has a 50cc fuel diaphragm - so I went ahead and purchased a new 50cc and a 150cc fuel diaphragm from a scooter website. Only thing different is the 150cc diaphragm has 3 ports? Just curious which one would be a better fit, and I will upload pictures tomorrow - had to repair my buddy's brake line on his truck, left him stranded.. stupid dodges!

I think you may need someone familier with California smog set up (My guess) If it was mine I would take off the stock airbox put on an UNI filter and rejet.. then cap off any uneeded lines- Pat
