Time needed: About 30 minutes

Tools needed: 13mm and 10mm wrenches as well as 6mm and 5mm allen wrenches

Exhaust system unpacked:

Step 1: Loosen the bolt holding the muffler to the engine seen in the middle of this photo.

Step 2: Remove the bolts or nuts holding the pipe to the head. Mine had cap nuts.

Image

Step 3: Remove the bolt from step one completely and fish out the exhaust. If yours is equipped and you need to, remove the springs holding the muffler on. I was able to leave this intact and remove it in one piece. Photo is of the springs holding the muffler to the pipe.

Here is a comparative shot of the Hammerhead exhaust and the oem one that came on my gy6.

Here are the cap nuts mine was equipped with, I will be reusing these.

Step 4: Install the exhaust pipe loosely.

Step 5: Attach the muffler and the band clamp. Tighten the muffler and exhaust pipe, then tighten the band clamp.

Step 6: Start the buggy and check for leaks.
