1. Eside Pipe/Uni/127.5 Jet - Great gain, sounded better overall expensive for the package, but it was the starting ground for me. Had to do some minor adjustments to get pipe to fit. Purchased all from www.awesomebuggy.com

2. High Performance CDI - No noticeable gain to the naked eye. I know its there...I just know it. There wasn't any re-mapping of the curve. Just increased revs. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

3. High Performance CAM - Not worth the money for 2005 Talons. I didn't see an increase here either. Found out after I bought and installed from Talonman that 05 already has hot cam. I would suppose this one did make a difference but again...no joy in me noticing it. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

4. High Output Spark Plug Wire - Looks good and connects to the spark plug a whole lot better than the stocker, but again no noticeable gain. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

5. Koso Variator with 9 Gram rollers - Better ramp angle on the Koso don't forget to get some dry lube. This was an extremely noticable gain throughout the entire throttle range. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

6. 1500 RPM Spring - I know alot of people run this with the 9 grammers to avoid slipping and keep things tight but I didn't like it. To high RPM at low speeds for me. I took it out. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

7. Koso Clutch - Installed it and took it out a day later, because stock was better to me. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

8. TM24 Mikuni 150 main - Big gain for me. Improved throttle response immensly. Very easy to install. Not as easy to dial in. After the replacement of the CV carb to the Mikuni, I could easily spin the tires on the holeshot. Purchased from James Lee and Blister.

9. 39 Tooth Sprocket - This is a gimme for low-end. After this mod I can actually power brake on the hole shot. The tires will unleash on any terrain. Huge bang for the buck. $35 Purchased from www.carterbro.com

10. O-Ring Chain - #530 Reduced noise and maintenance. Purchased from http://diamondchain.com/products/catalog.php

11. Herculiner - Easy to do, and great functionality to stop feet from slipping.

12. Gas cap from Troy Bilt lawnmower - Reduced the "gas tank rattle"

13. Replaced stock lights with 4 halogens. Purchased from www.bladepowersports.com

14. Red Billet shifter handles, Chrome red conduit, and seat belt pads from Advanced Auto Parts.
15. Oil Breather and stock snorkel tubing for CVT breather.

16. Custom bracket to move muffler away from CVT.

17. Kill Switch a basic flip switch from Walmart to replace the button that always gets stuck.

Issues: Broke weld on steering strut once. This was jumping off about a 2-3 ft drop.

Parts: I order parts directly from Carter Brothers. Chuck is the tech. Angie is the parts manager. It usually takes about 3 days to receive parts. I have had some issues with them sending me the right parts, but since talking to only Angie...I haven't ever had that problem again.


Overall Opinion: Carter Brothers has been around a long time. They are probably one of the most well established in this arena. I have enjoyed my Talon from the first day I bought it. It has gone through and over every type of terrain. I would without a doubt recommend this buggy to anyone in the market for a 150. Its a great quality buggy.

I edited my previous Talon review in another thread and moved it over here, I didn't want to hijack someone elses thread. I tried not to leave anything out. If you think I did let me know.

If you need them I have pictures of the install. Blister convinced me of this modification and it was really impressive.

Thank you for the offer Picci. I'll be sure to request pics of the install when I can budget for a carburetor. Right now I'm just before plunking down some cash for two Chrome 10inch wheels and a nice set of 20inch tires for the rear of my Talon.

hey picchi was the sprocket easy to change?

Hey picchi if you could post the install of the carb it would be great.I have done a lot of mods too my sahara but not the carb i didnt think it would make a lot of difference.

Replacing the rear sprockets isn't too bad. Kind of time consuming though.

great review , we bought ours last july and haven't stopped riding
we too bent and broke our spindles
i replaced the rt. then the left had a slight bend
i ordered both sides and reinforced before the install
she's been off the ground many times and rolled once
since the mod and no failure !!!!! who said buggys can't jump ? will try to post the mods i made
we have made no other mods to cart but are in need of a muffler and looking to add some power thanks for your insight so we can get more bang for our buck
