Hello.

I bought a ASW Carbide for project for my son. I've got the engine out of it right now for a rebuild but I want to get the clutch setup before I reinstall the engine. Our property is hilly and I want to get it setup more for low-end power than top speed or at least to find a compromise between the two. There are all kinds of options for rollers and springs for the GY6 engines and I'm not sure where to start with this setup. I figured I'd ask the experts here to see what setups they are happy with. Any input at all would be appreciated.

The only upgrades I have right now are as follows:
-upgraded unlimited CDI
-high output coil
-iridium spark plug
-gutted exhaust

i have an 09 carbide. this is what i did and it works great.
1. i installed lighter rollers/sliders (15 or 17 gram i believe).
2. i installed a larger rear sprocket for more low end.
3. keep the stock clutch, it will be fine. don't get sucked into the dr. pulley clutch BS like i did with my 2007 HH250.
4. put a uni-filter intake on it & re-jet the carb.

i does well on trails & hills with me (200 lbs.) and my son (about 80 lbs)
and i can still reach speeds of 32-35 on the flats.

10g rollers or 12g sliders work well on the 150's.

Also don't know or just forgotten if it fits the carbide but a 39 tooth axle sprocket is a good mod to go along with what others said.gives more grunt better hill climbing takes strain off clutch
Also big help when riding double

After looking at my notes, Karl is correct, i used 12g sliders not the heavier ones. i was thinking of my 250 when i mentioned the 17g.
oops.
