Well guys I picked up this sweet buggy for the low price of $300 and didnt want to pass it up, ended up picking up 2 magnum 425's for $250 and a PS3 controller so I decided to do a swap. Guy that I got the buggy from never used it and it just sat, he took the motor apart and couldnt get it back together because he couldnt find a manual, decided since it was out why not! I'm new to this so any info or guidance would be appreciated! Already took the engine out so just trying to figure whats the best way to mount it. Do you think just cutting the mount out of the 425 would be best?

That is a nice buggy and a good candidate for that swap. You will like that combination. Not the power that the 500Ho has but much better than what was in there. You will like the swap.

Nice another Magnum swap ! That chassis is a great canidate for motor swap. I know they offer a pizza pan sprocket that I believe converts over to single chain just not sure if its 520 that matches the polaris or 530. Check the cams on those motors to make sure they dont have flat lobes and if so then a 500HO cam swap should be in your future as they drop in along with the intake boot and carb for a good bump in power. Everything else is different..

The engine cradle in your machine looks allot like my joyner cradle so if anything id recomend following one of the joylaris builds. Depending on your fab skills you could get away with cutting out the engine cradle off the polaris and drafting it onto the Kinroad base if your new to it. You can always circle back later to do it right and build one from scratch like some of the talented guys here do.

Papa Rich is probably the expert here on cradle making.

In my Joyner/Polaris build (mostly done by the prior owner), the Polaris cradle is basically set on top of the Joyner cradle and then welded together. I cut quite a bit of the Polaris cradle off and only used the essentials. I actually took too much off, but that's another story. Anyway, here's what it looks like.

I was looking at your thread last night as a matter of fact, would it hurt to add the whole cradle? like this? this is Dr.Q's build

If you have room, sure. It might be getting tight in your engine bay, though. If you followed my build, you saw where I put the top motor mount. The rest of that upper cage really doesn't have to be there otherwise.

I just wish I hadn't cut off the right side bearing carrier area. The prior owner on mine had cut the final output shaft coming out of the transmission, and I didn't realize that at the time. It's not a huge deal, but to have that shaft go across and ride in another bearing makes it much more durable. Not having could put undue stress on the transmission case. Some people cracked their transmissions that way, doing jumps and landing while under heavy throttle.

Ok guys, I got the cradle off, do you think more should be cut off, I was trying to keep the right upper motor mount if possible, also do you think I could get away with using the same chain along with the sprocket? Looking for suggestions, tried to get a few angles, disregard the crappy welds, going to redo them lol

That's a double roller 530 size chain and the Polaris typically take 520. You need to make a change on one side or the other.

Can you elaborate a little more, I'm really new to this, or do you have an example? This

The chain size is different for the Polaris and Kinroad. You either need to swap the axle sprocket for a 520 Polaris or the drive sprocket to a single or double roller 530 for a Kinroad.

Let me make sure I'm tracking, so I should be able to take my old drive sprocket off the kinroad engine and put that sprocket on the polaris transmission?

The spline count and diameter will most likely be off. You need to match up sprockets between the transmission and axle no matter which way you go so the correct chain can drive them.

Still trying to get things done, I have a question though, do you think that the bearing hubs being canted a little would cause any future problems? Here are pics from both sides
