Having issue with Hammerhead 250 valve adjustment. As you can see from picture the intake valve slider is in a pretty good position but the exhaust slider is maxed out to the left with no room for any more adjustment. It has slowly migrated to that position after adjusting valves for the past couple of years. Any adjustment to the right and you can hear tapping/etc.
Is it time to replace valves? Valve springs?
Engine has big bore kit with head work (polished/ported/enlarged intake, etc.) Running performance Hammerhead exhaust, performance carb, etc.
Thanks,
Papa Buggy

I recall my last buggy, with the same mods, being in about the same spot. I didn't have to make any changes, though. I do recall someone filing a bit off of the adjuster so it would move over a hair more.

Wasn't there a batch of cams that were wearing out lobes at one time? Pull the valve cover and look for abnormal cam or rocker arm wear.

Yes there was.
Tom Syc knows about that first hand.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that adjust is adjusted to it's loosest setting. You have to move the adjusters away from each other to tighten the valve lash. So if you are moving it to the right and it is starting to clatter it makes me wonder if the eccentric is in wrong. If that is even possible.
