Finished a top end refresh, and timing chain. It is running good, but having a issue with idle. In neutral it is revving hi, in gear it is a perfect idle. I do have the choke pulled to 1st notch (maybe 1\8-1\4). When choke is off it has no power.

1. Are your shift cable and choke cable strapped together? Maybe the position of the shift cable moves the choke?

2. Is your clutch slightly engaging when in gear pulling your engine RPM down?

No shift cables on this one, only foot shift and choke is on side of carb.

Not sure, but I am guessing so. Every now and then it will slightly surge back and forth then stop. If I turn idle down any more it dies or will not start without pressing throttle.

Could it be a leak in intake boot? Maybe causing lean mixture, needing choke pulled slightly.
