Today I bought a Dukar 200cc motorcycle. The engine runs really nice and it has electric start. I am planning on building a single seater to put it in. It needs to be very light. Maybe I will buy a set of plans from Ted (theo)and build his single seat buggy!! Does anyone have a single seat buggy that has a bad engine or maybe a frame from Dazon or the like that they want to sell?

You got a nice engine there, I would love to get my hands on one of those.

The lightest single-seat full suspension buggy I ever saw was an old Sidewinder by Tomberlin. This had the faithfull old Howhit in it and predates even the Yerfdogs. Looking at one you can sure see where the Yerf came from. Might be worth looking for one just for the light frame and good suspension.

Contact dazon if that's what you are thinking of. They sometimes have extra frames laying around. They've sold them on here in the past.

I will check with Dazon and I will look into that Tomberlin and see what it looks like. I am probably going to just build another frame and go with that. I was just trying to make it easier by getting a frame already built.

Newbuggier I got the bike from a friend who needed the cash. I guess I got lucky there.

I just did a parts list. The cost is about 2800.00 to make an independent suspension single seat buggy. I may need to buy a frame/complete gokart with a bad engine. Any one want to sell a frame?

I contacted Dazon and they replied they have a couple frames and could sell me a rolling chasis. They asked me to reply so they could email me pics and a price and I haven't heard from them since the 6th.

I went to the iron yard today and bought 43 feet of 1-1/4 inch diameter .085 wall tubing so I can start the frame. I should have something done by this weekend.

Randy, what style of buggy are you going to build?

From the past experiences, they like to drop these frames CHEAP.. definately contact them and keep up the contact. Call the office there if you have to and mention you are regular BuggyNews contributor. We'd love to see what you can do with a Dazon frame. Terry Chia should be interested. I'll try and email him for you as well.

Ted, a single seat with Dual A-Arms front and rear suspension. I want it to be light and tightly packaged. I want to keep it narrow around 52 inches and no more than 76 inches long if I can keep it that small.

Are you going to use 1 1/4" tubing for the build?

Yes I want to make sure it is going to be strong as I am sure my son is going to beat the heck out of it. I am going to use Heim joints for the front suspension. The spindles will be solid 1 inch tapped to accept high misalignment 1/2 inch heim joints. The front hubs will be 1 1/4 inch axle high speed trailer hubs with 4 on 4 bolt pattern. I will drill the trailer axles to allow the solid 1 inch spindle to run through it and weld all the way around. The rear suspension will use Poly bushings at all pivot points and the Axles will be solid inch axle with 1/4 inch keyway. I am going to use the High HP Universal joints from badland buggies. Hopefull I can just use the sprocket off of the dirt bike for the final sprocket if not I will get one made.

Those are going to be some tuff spindles.

Do you think the ujoints will hold up to the engine? I guess if you don't put to much angle on them they will work? How much hp. will those ujoints take?

I just looked at those ujoints, they will not take 200 hp. It must be a type o they mean 20 hp. Check the price from a drive shaft, pto out let first, I think they are cheaper.

I used GM Cavalier axles, they are cheaper, stronger and maybe a little heavier. Using the driver side axles gives me a outside measurment at the hubs of 45" .

Yea I thought that was a typo. I am concidering a set of car axles as well. what year Cavalier did you get the axles from? Did you do any modifying to the length? What center drive setup did you fab for the sprocket and brakes?

The donor engine makes 15HP.

You can use Cavaliers, sunfire 98 to 02. Other years might work to but these are the years that the junk yard gave me.

Here is the way I made mine. I don't have a pic of the outer bearing, but it bolts on with 3 1/2" bolts. You can see it in one of the housings. I did turn off the rim flange and welded on a 4 on 4 trailer flange, I got it from Princess Auto in Canada. because I couldn't find rims to fit.

Does anyone know where I can get high misalignment male 1/2 - 20 tierod ends with studs? I want to get them inted of make them this time but do not want to get them from Badland because they are 30.00 each and I need 5.
