My buggy will start and idle just fine. I press on the gas and it will rev high then drop off, rev high then drop off. I let off the gas and it goes back to idling just fine. I've gone through the carb and there are no clogs and the jets look fine. I put in a brand new CDI / Coil / and spark plug. Still does the same thing. Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be?

welcome to buggynews. check the intake for cracks, they crack around the mounting holes and on the bottom. you can spray carb cleaner around the intake with it at idle, if the idle changes then its cracked and sucking air

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find any leaks on the intake. I turned off the fuel while the machine was running and as the fuel emptied out of the carb it ran really good for the last couple seconds. I think it's getting too much fuel some how. I don't know why though. I'm stumped.

Do a read on your plug. Pull the plug and check its color. Dark and oily then your are running too rich. Light in color then you are lean. If you are running too rich then you are loading up the carb.

The plug is pretty black. I'm thinking something bad is happening in the carburetor. Nothing has changed on the machine since last time it was running good other than I had the frame welded. You don't think it could be an electrical issue from the welder do you?

Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. If it's clogged/dirty you're not getting enough air through it and running rich as a result.

This could result in a black plug and a bogging condition you're describing.

Been thinking about your suggestion ever since I read it. Welder grounds his welder to the frame, every electrical part on the Joyner is grounded on the frame. What might a welder damage on the Joyner? Great question BTW.

Well, after scratching my head for a long time I went ahead and bought a new carburetor. The machine is running fine now.
Looking at the old carb, I still can't see anything wrong with it! Anyway, thanks for the posts.
