i am wanting to upgrade my clutch on my carter gtr 300
i can get a malossi clutch for about 100 bucks less than the dr pulley
i have read up on both ...they both seem to have a good following, w/ dr pulley probably selling more units in the usa....i have studied each of the clutchs designs and no doubt the dr pulley seems like alot of r&d has gone into the development of the pillow springs system design
the malossi appears to be very close to carters stock clutch in design..(just from looking at pics) does anyone have 1st hand expreriece in both clutchs and is the dr pulley worth the extra money
i mean really, what kinda science does it take to weight some springs to grab a bell w/brake shoes??
and...do the upgraded clutchs wear or break belts more usual? thanks

yes i see he is selling the malossi for the gtr and firebird loves his malossi clutch also......i just thought that dr pulley sure looks scientific w.all those moving parts and extra springs......do both clutches use the same stock bell
bige has a package of asst goodies sold in a kit and...i think i will go that package and get the malossi first time out....i never new a clutch could make that much difference but i hear its a night and day change in performance. more over than all the rollers and variator upgrades can produce. ......my gtr should be here monday! cant wait!

the malossi clutch only has 3 springs to change, the tension blocks can be moved to help dial in the sprins. on the bottom where the tension bloks attach there is a weight for each arm, that weight can be moved closer or further from the end of the clutch arm.

The malossi is not as complecated as the dr pulley but is just as adjustable and easier to adjust.

The problem with comparing the two is that no one has actually seen both in a GTR to my knowledge. Truthfully, the malossi never would have been used in this application if BigE hadn't done the homework for me. I can surely attest that the Malossi is an amazing clutch. You can also order every single part of the malossi for replacement as well. Malossi is an Italian company, Dr Pulley is Chinese. Malossi has a long history of making performance parts for scooters(which is what our engines are designed for).

Comparing the Malossi to stock is easy. Even with the lowest tension white springs, the Malossi is noticeably stiffer than the stock clutch. With the red springs it is a torquey hill climbing, FAST acccelerating son of a gun. I can't imagine the Dr Pulley pulling noticeably better performance....but I could be wrong.

I wonder how it much of a difference the malossi clutch would make to the phoenix 300?
