Have you tried the different springs (you don't have to use that guide that doesn't fit the red and white)? Which did you like the best with which combo of sliders?

Mike, this is what I tried so far:

Blue Torque Spring with 21gr. Sliders
If you're riding flat lands this set up would
be great. Gain some Top End :D
I reached 42mph on my property, but I ran
out of room. But I can tell there was still more.

White Torque Spring with 19gr. Sliders
Gain a bit more low end and lost
appproximately 2 to 3 mph on the top end.
I think this would be a good set up
for regular trail riding. Speed picks up
at higher rpm's

I'm gonna run this set up for a few

I'm going to test next:
White Spring with 17gr. Sliders
Red Torque Spring with 17gr. Sliders
Red Torque Spring with 15gr. Sliders

I will then test the Clutch & Pillow springs
after I find my ideal torque spring & slider
set up for my buggy.

Hi Guys,

Just caught up with this thread again.

I ended up filing the hole in my Dr. Pulley clutch just a little to make assembly/disassembly easier.

As for the red torque spring, I did the old "arm test" on it while the clutch was out and compared the tension to my blue spring. I don't know if it was just me, but it definitely felt like the blue spring had more tension once it neared full compression. Seeing as the blue spring is quite compressed anyway once fitted (due to its longer length), I actually feel that the blue spring works out to give more squeeze. I will stress again that this is just using the "muscle test".

So, I ended up sticking with the blue spring with 17 gram sliders. This seems to give me plenty of torque.

In a different thread a few months ago, BIGE did a bunch of "scale" tests: compressing the springs against a scale and measuring how much "weight" (eg, spring tension) they displaced when compressed.

It turns out the red and white springs have quite a bit more force when compressed. I have verified this with my own testing.

This is not to say that the blue spring doesn't supply good tension or work very well, just that even though the springs may "feel" similar, they're not. :)

I found the blue spring to be unusable in my 250 until I cut a coil and a 1/2 off. The spring would stack solid before the belt got all the way to the bottom.
