Hello fellow buggy enthusiasts......I am looking to trade up my AB 250 (thanks to all on here who helped me work out the carb issues to get it running like a champ) to a Roketa GK-25 (used). My question about this buggy is what year did they start making this specific 800cc model? The guy selling it said it was a 1998.....just wondering if they went back that long....thot theses buggies were fairly new on the market say within the last 5-7 years. Again thanks for any replies....Alex

I done some searching and I could only find the 800's back to 2007, nothing prior to that. I think you are better off with your 250 though. Ive heard bad things about the Roketa 800's. Many of them from here.

Studio50, My first buggy was a Kasea 250. (The light blue with sparkles in the powder) You have done more modes then I did. And I still wish I never sold it. Not because I don’t like my 800cc but because now I have to use a trailer to get to place to ride. 65” is too wide for the ATV trails around the house. So I would keep the 250 and get the 800 and have twice the fun. Like all buggies made in chine all have problems but so do the ones made in the US. The 800 give you a good bang for the buck.My GK25 is a 2005 high ratio transmission.Changed the stock 25" to 22" lowered the gears a little

Rock Roketa Nevada...thanks for the advice....altho I'd like to keep both my family has moved toward more duning than trail riding. I took the 250 to Coral pink dunes UT., Sand Mountain NV., and Pismo...every time I had to get pulled out. So i'm hoping with the 800 I will solve some of that......Me and the wife have quads as well Predator 500 and raptor 660 so when I have the need for speed I can hop on one of those....the 800 will primarily be used when we are in cali and can't ride my 3 yr old 2-up.... he can sit shotgun in the 800. I see you have the close ratio tranny. Did u buy that aftermarket or was it in their already. The '06 im gonna buy i think has the long geared tranny so i've got an e-mail to westcoast regarding pricing on the close ratio tranny........Alex

Well just picked up the new/used buggy. She looks to be ridden hard and put away wet. Their was a very bad stumble at idle. I cleaned the carb and found a vacuum leak which I fixed, changed all the fuel hoses and filter and now she runs like a champ. Me and the lil man were takin her for a spin when the front lower a-arm went out on us. The whole front end dug in. Good thing it was a low speed crash.
I got an order in for new axles and new front lower a-arms from awesome buggy. Altho the a-arms are on backorder now, i'll have the axles in 3 days and they are the 6 bb type. I'll get limit straps and hopefully the axles will last a lil bit longer.
This buggy is gonna mainly be set up to run the dunes but some lite trail work as well. Thanks to all that have posted ...I've been scouring the forums reading all I can and I'll say without any of this info I wouldn't be half as far along as I am.....Thanks again Alex

Studio50, Congrats on the new buggy I bet you got a great deal. What color did you get? I don’t have the lower geared transmission I changed the tires to a smaller size to lower the gears. It was ok for around my house but I now know I need to spend the money on a new Trans. The limiting straps will save the axles as long as you get the six point ones. As far as going fast I think my buggy goes faster then I would want to go, in the case of and accident I think if a person were to wreck a high speed the frame would just ball up around you. This is just my opinion and you know how that goes. I would also get a hold of Greg (west coast) He is the man when it comes to this buggy and won’t take you for a ride like others. Also what part of Cali do you ride in? Nevada rock

RRN, thanks for the reply....the buggy is black and I got it for 2k...altho I've got about 1k in it now....new 6bb axles, new tires front and rear, new K&N airfilter, new plugs, oil, gear oil, new front lower arms, ...the carb is out to WESTCOAST right now for modification as we speak. I noticed you have limit straps on your buggy what length are they? I bought 22" and they seem a bit short to mount on the shock mounts for the rear.....
I spoke to to Scott at Unleashed Motorsports and he is doing the gear swap.... if you can split the tranny cases he'll trade you for your output shaft and gear cluster for a really good price and send you out the lower geared set ......give him a call.....I'll post pics of before and after....she was in pretty bad shape when I bought her hence the lowball price ......Alex

Studio50, You did get a great deal. You got the rite size straps .I had to put mine in a vice and used a BFH and bent them to fit around the shock. I have also gone through the entire wiring of the buggy and relocated a full size battery in the right front to add some weight to the front tires. You will also want to protect the oil pan and shifting arm from rocks and the ground when you come down hard. The stock setup will bend up and you won’t be able to shift gears. I cut out the stock pc and welded some angle steel to the frame then took some 3/16 aluminum and bolted it to the bottom now oil pan and shifter are as safe as can be. West cost is the man in our area he should be a lot of help. Thank you for the info on the gear swap I will have to call him. How hard was it to split the transmission on your buggy? Almost forgot you will need to also make a guard for belt drive, the bolts on the main pulley well catch on the strap when you bottom out this is a bad thing. Robert
