I only asked because the larger buggies use 4/115mm on the front and rear and there are some exceptions to the common 4/110mm front and 4/137mm rear on the smaller ones. It gets even more convoluted when you are not the original owner and someone previous to you did some modifications...

You're right about 90 degrees on the cam. I was thinking about the crank 180 degrees out. It's a completely new top end including cam which had me questioning the index marks on the sprocket.

180 degrees out on the cam would mean that the valves are closed at BDC instead of TDC. Weren't there some cams sold that had the sprocket indexed incorrectly?

I assume you measured your bolt pattern to verify.

The only 600 was the Python with DOHC Chery engine. The Sand Viper came with a carbureted 650 SOHC (too heavy for the engine), 800 carbureted, 800 DOHC and 1100 DOHC. Many owners are clueless what they own, so post a picture of the front and engine so we can help you.

I would try to start it without the CVT drive belt. If the clutch is trying to engage, it will give the appearance of a weak starter or battery.

I see many stock 1.3 engines rolling on 29" tires and you still have low range when you need to crawl over something. In the US, the stock tire was about 26" tall with the supplied 205/70R15 size. I don't know if the gear ratios are the same as yours. Most of the Suzuki's here will get new...

Tires are a subjective choice. For street tires, you can look for 50 or 60 series sidewalls for performance and to keep the buggy CG low.

Get a piece of Lexan and cut it to the size you need. Mount it to the cage using insulated cable clamps and fender washers to distribute the attachment load.

Hi JB and PGH. What would you think of moving the YXZ racing guy as a sub title in our format.Ghost Shane has his own thread running and really does not need his own sub-topic. If we get some other YXZ racers posting, I can create a Racing sub-topic but we already have racing and events in another ...

It does roll easier and faster. Brakes are tasked more with greater speed and tire diameter. Stiffer sidewalls make cornering better but stiffen up the suspension compared to mushy ATV tires. If you don't care about ground clearance consider lower profile tires on larger diameter rims.

Your buggy uses a 4/137 rear bolt pattern and a 4/110 front bolt pattern. I went with 14" ITP rims on my Joyner rear but left 12" rims on the front since I am limited to 25" tall tires clearing at full turn: new-street-shoes-t48065.html

My '89 Mazda 4wd originally came with that size tire. I went to 31x10.5-15 after they wore out. This was good combination for my vehicle since I towed with it, but I had twice your displacement with my G6 2.6 I-4 engine. Getting a tire size that is readily available was a smart move - I have looked ...

You're fine. My old GY6 with 11-pole could handle 220w operating and 110w at idle. This was before LED's became cheap enough and upgrading the stator, rectifier, battery and wiring was better a deal.

I was thinking maybe too much lash which would limit how well it could breathe. This would still give you good compression with loose valve clearances.

Measure your battery voltage at idle with lights on and off and again at operating RPM. If any of these measurements are bellow 12VDC, you are drawing too much. If it is only an issue at idle, just make sure to shut down some of the lights until you hit the throttle again. LEO vehicles (police) have...

A solid axle is more fun to spin around but provides less traction than an IRS setup. IRS will add weight to the buggy compared to an engine cradle swing arm and I am sure there is parasitic friction in the moving joints. Ride quality will be much better with IRS when each wheel can move over its ow...
