Attached are a few pick of my answer to getting mud in my 650. The kind of driving I do is mostly on muddy trials and climbing rocks and logs. I also raised the back of the 650 by grinding off the rear suspension mounts and fabricating my own and welding them back on 2.5” lower. The lowest point on my Sand Spider is now 13.5”. I welded in small 1”X1/8” steel to the frame so I could rivet 22 gauge steel panels to, and then sealed it from the inside with clear silicon. It worked out great. The entire mod added 35 pounds, but with the driving I do that fine. I also installed a hinge in the front to get to the winch.

That looks awesome. You did a great job on that, it looks stock. What is the width of that?
Thanks,
It is the standard 650 Sand Spider width. I will measure and confirm what it really is. It does GREAT on the Jeep trails I like to ride on at the Badlands.

Nice job. Need to look at it. I am also tired of mud inside. I am in the process of F/F carb/header install. Few problems I am working around, mostly the thermo hsg. My temp sensor is in the stock one and I am working "around" it. I am just up the road from Fishers, on the south side of Fort Wayne, just south of 469. I get to Indy couple times a month.

Jim, Thanks, if you get real close to the buggy you can see some imperfections, but devilville, just going to get it muddy anyway.
Next time you are going to Indy let me know, just PM me and we can get together, I do have to warn you I travel a lot for the company I work for, but I am around most Fridays thru Mondays. Also if you need any help with anything I have a small lathe and mill, plus a bunch of other tools I have accumulated with my hobbies.
What brand/model of TIG welder did you end up getting? I've been thinking of getting one and your work looks good. Of course, it would take me a long time to get up to your level of work.
Again, good job. Your daughter looks like she loves riding along.

Thanks, I made sure to stand back alittle so you can't see the little imperfections.
Belive it or not I got a Clark mig welder from Menards, it was about $300.00 and so far I have ran the guts out of it and it is still working great, my welds are not real nice (yet) but good enough. My work looks good because my paint job covers up the mistakes, but it looks good enogh to get in the mud.
The real test will be hitting the mud at 55mph and see if it finds it way in anywhere.
