I was climbing a monster hill this past weekend on the 3203 and 3/4 of the way up I hit a rock that stopped me dead I was able to roll back a bit and gun the engine which popped the front wheels off the ground and got me over the rock and up the trail Rode for about another hour going through some pretty thick mud bogs
All was well and good, but something didn't feel quite right. Felt like I was losing power After a couple of more mud holes, I couldn't even climb a hill on a gravel road and had to be towed back to camp. I'm not sure, but I think I may have gotten something jammed in my mechanical disc brake.
Anywho...my question is about getting stopped on the monster hill...Does the belt smoking indicate I need more HP from my engine, a better clutch, or a better torque converter. I ditched the 6.5 horse tecumsuh and replaced it with a 7 horse subaru robin. It has way more torque (more than a stock gy6 150), but I still have the stock comet clutch and converter. Is there a better clutch/converter I can put on this thing?

The belt is probably toast.I would check the pressure of the driven pulley. If the springs are weak it will slip alot, smoking the belt
How do I test it?

Smoke coming from the CVT is usually NOT the belt - it's the clutch and/or bell overheating and possibly melting. A belt will simply break.
I'd inspect your clutch for glazed pads, and the bell for blue/purple glazing. Replace one or both if really bad. Once they start going, it's all downhill from there - literally and figuratively.

Dont think his yerf 3203 has a cvt,the driven pulley has a wound up torque spring which you can change the spring pressure

I thought this was a CVT
But the BIG question is...how do I conquer this hill? I haven't removed the governer on the subaru engine, so I think I can get more HP out of it. I have a 9 tooth drive sprocket and a bigger driven sprocket (don't remember the tooth count)
Is there a better clutch/torque converter/cvt I can get for the 3/4" shaft that will pull me up a mountain? I don't wanna drop $70 on a clutch every time out

I think you have a comet system. You can change the spring and or the spring hole on the driven pulley. If you can take pictures of your system that would be helpful
