Hello everyone,
I was wondering if some one could tell me the benifits to using the stock straight rear drive shaft on a carter 250 gtr compared to a diffartial unit and the draw backs to using this type unit,I have broke two of the stock shafts so this time i orderd the other one,Where im at most of the riding i do is in the mud and hills and stuff and im thinking im might end up stuck a lot but im sick of breaking this cheap shafts, you would think it would strip the CV joint or something first but they keep breaking off at the joint,
I had ordered another straight shaft though carter and called today to see why i hadnt got it and it was back ordered and no one could tell me when they would have one so i talked to the manager and they said the had the diferintal unit in stock so i took it,
So any info on this would be great, Thanks .Sorry bout the spelling

The times it has broke have been pretty much on hills when its under pressure, The buggy is a 07.
Do you like the limited slip diff,on your buggy,It seems like it would help them turn alot better,Im hoping i will like this if not i may just sell the buggys, ive also got the talon 150 that i seldom use at all it just dont have the torgue i need for the riding i do,but its really alot more fun then the 250 is just to get out and play on,Anyways thanks for the respones and let me know if you like the slimited slip and any draw backs and advantages to it,Thanks alot.

Cool video clip, what all kinds of mods do you have on yours? Im running just the 2000 springs and smaller rollors that i cant think of the size right now 18 i think, and i also had a 12 tooth sprocket made for it but i dont see it doing burn outs haa,The bigger springs might be whats breaking the shaft on this thing hopefully the diff, will be alot better.Have to be in the turning department any ways as you know they need a field to turn in haa,
Do you know what the going price is on these diff,Carter said retail was 195.00 but he would let me have it at cost which was way way cheaper than that, just wandering if he was pulling my leg,
ANyways i hope to have it in by monday and try it out next weekend so im kinda excited about the buggy again,Thanks for you input ,

thta one in the video is stock. I sold it to a customer in sc. the only thing I have done to mine is put the back fire kit on and a 125 jet, and 6 of the 1 inch uni vents.

I have a new malossi variator for the gtr's, it takes the standard 23x18 rollers , now there is a varity of roller and slider sizes to choose from. I am going to put one in mine. we are having a november ride at turkey bay so I will need so light rollers for those hills.

what spings are you talking about in yours? thats the retail price for the diff

You must not have modded that 150 very much if you cant pull a hill. Erics 300 did very well at the bash. If you keep twisting shafts why dont you make some customs. Go pull some from the junk yard that are the right length or longer and bigger round. Have a machine shop turn them down and cut the splines you need. If you go this route take a spindle with you when you pick up the shafts to test for fit. If not tight dont except them.

The gtr is on my list of top 3 buggies so dont give up on it.

Well i guess the guy at carter told me the truth then.
I also have thought about getting and having th straight shaft made so if i dont like the diff,i might do that, dont know, ive kinda got into the fourwheelers now, still like the buggys though if i dont have to work on it everytime i take it out,Ha,
The springs i was talking about are the ones that control the clutch arms,at what RPM they engage and stuff, all the mods ive bought for them came though blade power sports. The 150 talon has beem rejeted to 125 also has aftermarket cluth with the 1500 springs smaller rollers rednect intake unia filter bout the only other thing i could think to do to it is change the sprocket, and believe me the mods made a world of diffrence and will climb much better but like i said where i live its alot of hills that are pretty step and everybody i ride with has fourwheelers.I dont know anyone around here that has the buggys,And to me the buggys are just as fun and can go places you dont want to take a four wheeler.Maybe i can get this diff, unit in and it work good, ive put alot of money in tires and stuff for it so i would like to use it,ha,Thanks to everyone and if anyone has anymore suggestions on getting more torgue out of them or just any inprovements to do to them let me know,Again thanks

one of the best things to do is to change out the variator. the malossi ones use the standard 250 rollers and will really wake it up

You could cam the 150 as well as 30mm carb. But if I had a 300 I would'nt mess with it either.
