Thanks for the info.

Would you all recommend this buggy over a 1974 VW Beetle?

I've got a 1974 VW Beetle with the autostick transmission.
the transmission has been giving me quite a few problems.

I'm almost afraid to drive it because it get it into neutral and wont go back into 1st or 2nd either.

Also, don't have the extra $1k to dump a transmission into it as I can't do it myself.

I can get about half of what the buggy costs out if it.
I would also have to sell my 2000 VW Jetta VR6 (which guzzles fuel) to afford the buggy.

Would you recommend using it for a daily driver?
I've got a ram 1500 I can use when it's raining.

Jack1981 is the closest to being a member that daily drives his buggy and would be a better resource than me.

I think the VW makes a better daily driver, but it does require attention (so will a buggy) to keep it running well. If the age of the VW is beginning to show and "nickle and diming" you with expenses, you have decide whether to dump more money into it or start fresh with another vehicle.

You will need work your buggy and there are far fewer people that know how to work on buggies than VW's. If you don't want to do your own repairs and service, a buggy may not be the best choice for you.

In that case, I might just start looking for a VW based buggy.

It might be cheaper to work on.
