I found a geo metro with 45,000 miles on it for $300 bucks from the original owner (91 y/o lady) and the engine/trans found its way into my SandViper !!! Done with the CRAP 650 !!!!

I removed all the factory mounts and will fabricate new ones that fit the new engine better.

I made up all the new motor mounts , got the shifter done and the clutch mount .
Notched the oil pan so that I could lower the engine into the cradle , for better cv joint alignment . Cut up the cv joints from the joyner and the metro and will be putting those together today. My next task will be header fab and exhaust. Metro wheels are the same bolt pattern (had to try it)!!!

I finished my header and got the exhaust installed , also finished one of the side of the CV joint cups . I wired up the engine and discovered that the geo metro uses the same brain\black box inside the distributor as the Joyners original igniter\brain . The plug was exactly the same also. I hooked up everything and hit the starter and I have spark at the coil . Just need to pull The engine back out and paint the frame and mounts , and reassemble . Tomorrow I will receive my Suzuki samurai weber carb kit , it is supposed to be a bolt on as they use the same throttle body . we will see!!

The Samurai had the G10 and later the G13 engine when first introduced to North America. You should find many of the parts cross over except the ones that are four or three cylinder specific.

Drove the SV for the first time today, I should have done this instead of turbocharging the 650. The metro engine has more power than the 650 turbocharged and way more torque. Everything about it is better , the shifter is way easier and positive feeling . Tomorrow I will disassemble everything and paint the new mounts and where I removed the paint for welding , finish welding what I could not easily get to during fabrication . The Weber carburetor works great and my air fuel gauge says its jetted correctly , the adapter plate did not bolt on to the intake manifold so it filled in the old bolt holes with my TIG welder and drilled the manifold to accept the Weber. I had to grind away at the base of the manifold to get the carb to work . I also removed the water jacket at the bottom of the manifold , it make for a cleaner engine and don't need the heat in the manifold. I even did some good burnouts for the neighbors , some appreciated it some didn't. the ones that didn't I told them I was testing the welds on my hybrid Joyner\Metro CV joints!!!

The carb set-up was easy to get done , I will eventually turbo and efi the engine. The carb works great on this engine. I cant really complain .

Cool....

So tell me. We're the axle lengths correct for the SV?

They were very close , I adjusted the length by making the metro stub shafts take up the difference. On the drivers side I had to shorten the metro stub 7/16 less than the passenger side. That is just the engine positioning on my part. I think that in your case you could have done the same without cutting your axles. We will find out here soon about that , I think I will be doing a Sand Spider g10 swap here soon.

the SS with the A-arms are a lot different. I like what you did with them.. I wish I would have thought of that!!!!! but I know they would not fit. Let me know what you find.

They will fit , the cv joints ... they are the same as a Sand Spider. Same transmission. I centered my engine according to the axles and made the engine \trans fit my frame . turned out to be easier and I am sure that the CV joints will not break.

researching into a heart transplant for my SS.

The G10 will fit without much modification, correct? The cv's are almost exact, the tranny/shifter are pretty much the exact same?

Check out my SS swap joyner-ss-g10-swap-t47121.html

axles are the hard part as the outer cv joints from the G10 are not a direct fit.

Remember that the half shafts are a different length on the automatic transmissions. They will bolt up to either transmission, so you have three or four different lengths to get the fit close without cutting down.
