you think i could gently with a rag or something and hammer th crank rod down?

Yes or a rubber mallet or a wooden meat tenderizer.

Alright this thing isn't budging. I tried using screwdrivers and the hammer but i don't want to damage it but i have tried forever and it isn't going anywhere. You mentioned a gear puller. Can you send me a link or tell me what kind i need and size? Or any other ways of getting the thing off.
