Pretty new Crossfire 150R. I bought a Trail Tech Vapor, FMF slip on, Uni filter, several jets and plugs. Spent all day yesterday running all over the place picking up stuff as I needed it. Big waste of day. BTW, thanks China for the spark plug boot that shatters the second time I pulled it off causing another trip out!

I wanted to get the Vapor on first so I could get some numbers. Between all the running around I did, problems with installation, and rain today I didn't get as extensive as I wanted. I ended up getting 0-30 time, top speed, and top RPM for each jet. Every time I changed the jet I would take it out and run it around to be sure it was warmed up with the old stock plug. Long, straight, flat country road. Then I'd put in a new plug and run it up and down my road. Back and forth 4 times about a mile each way gettin info on my Vapor. On the last run I'd jump the ditch, fly through the yard, and kill it while I was wide open approaching the garage. Then pull the new plug.

One flaw I found was my base numbers came from the old stock plug. I didn't have any new plugs yet when I ran it all stock. As I said I ran the new jets with the old plug then the new one and the numbers were always better with the fresh plug. This makes me think I could have done a little better stock if I had a new plug to throw in there at the time. Too late now. Anyway, keep that in mind when you see my chart.

I'm no office worker so I don't know how to do this kind of stuff so here is the best I could do.

I ordered 125,130, and 135 jets to start with. I then had to waste half the day calling all over then driving about an hour away to get my hands on the 137.5 and 140. I started with the 130 because from what I've read that should be close so I never even tried the 125.

By the time I got to the 140 jet my plug is not white anymore but just darker. It pops like crazy when I let off the gas. Seems to be pretty smooth. Problem is there sure as heck isn't no seat of the pants performance boost and my numbers confirm the thing runs worse now than when it was stock. What's the problem? I wish I never even tried this. Wasted time, money on parts, gas driving all over for what? Decrease the performance! What am I doing wrong?

Oh, one thing did turn out right. The Vapor is awsome.

I have'nt lookd at the chart yet but I will after this post. You have an intake leak and your fuel lines are probly to small. I run a 135 and am waiting on a 132.5 on a slightly modded crossfire.

With that big of a jet your sucking air from some where.

From the chart you get peak(stock) performance out of the 137.5. When you took the carb off you created a leak. There is just no way more air/fuel = 0 to a -.

How was the plug stock?

My can of carb cleaner is empty but I sprayed starting fluid around the intake. It didn't do anything. Shouldn't starting fluid work if there was a leak?

I would think. I just know you should'nt need that jet. Maybe the float is low not letting in enough fuel. Maybe the lines are restrictive. Maybe you got a few very small leaks closer to the manifold. Maybe somethings up with the cdi but I doubt it.

You got a stethoscope or what ever the doc listens to your chest? Works well for leaks. Maybe coat it in some dish soap like you would a tire.

what is the length of the pipe between the carb and uni? it needs to be no more than 6 inches and no less than 6. which size uni filter 1.5 or 2 inch , 4 inch long or 6?

The Uni is a 1.5X4. I got it from you Eric.

My pipe is a 6" drain but I may have gained some length with my coupling. So I should be 6" from the edge of the carb opening to the Uni opening?

You should be good unless you got some weird coupler. At least mine runs fine like that

the pipe it self should be 6 inches, about and inch in the coupling and 1/2 inch in the uni. sometimes you can get a false reading on the plug.

put a new cheapo plug in, run wide open, then shut it down witrh the throttle open and check the plug. if it runs to long you will get a false reading
