The registration for new users has changed. No longer can you enter in your signature field, occupation, aim, yahoo instant messager, etc upon registration. This must be done after registration by loging in, and clicking on the PROFILE link just under the BuggyNews.com top image ^^^

This was done due to the fact that spam bots are getting worse and abusing the board.

I hope this helps a bit to control the spammers!

I just wanted to bring this to new users attention, as it a change from the way things normally would work.

youknow, i dont know if this would be of interest, but KJ over on GKRU has a spam blocker, that will detect certain words, and if you try to post one with that word (and your under 10 posts) it will deny the post and delete it. There are afew other things to block spambots, the best one is a question in registeration that says "Are you human"

Anyway, just thought i'd bring that up.

I owned a forum before. phpBB always gets spam. But there are ways to control it via registration questions and such. But some spammers are humans. The only way to stop people from spamming is to warn them and have a good mod team - wich BN has.

Anyway, if you need any help, i'm a computer guy. Though, I haven't admin'd a forum for a couple years.
