I have been doing my research, mostly on this forum. Still in final decision (procrastination!) stage of my first Buggy purchase. Still stuck between modded 150 or a 250. The only question I have now before making my decision is width (part of the reason why I am looking at a 150).
Although I have a lot of legal (ish) trails near me, I would also like to be able to take my boys and our toys to organised/state park ATV trails, for safety/security and also to camp for the weekend etc.
Most (all) ATV trails around here (I live in Helena, AL) are restricted to 50 inches max width. Looking at all the buggies, it seems that even the narrowest has a front wheel width of 54 inches (Reaction/Dune/Crossfire 150).
Is anyone aware of a good buggy with 50 inches or less width? Or has anyone reduced (smaller A-arms etc) the front width of a Buggy?
I understand that the front must be as wide/wider than rear track for stability and possible turn circle changes etc. Really just wondering?
I know that this is part of the reason why the Polaris RZR is such a hot seller (they overcame the yama Rhino width issue).

As far as I know none of the 2 seat buggies are 50", the Blade single may be that narrow but I don't know for sure. Check out this post where CRW modified his Blade 150DX to be 50" wide so he could ride legally on Michigan trails.

I would bet in most places that have a 50" width restriction you could get by with a few inches more without getting hassled. Of course this would depend on your area.

Here iz AZ we have the 50" requirement but they have pretty much been ignoring it since the rhinos have become so popular. We have more rhinos and rangers rideing around in the woods than we do quads. I have been stoped a couple of times and asked a few questions, but have never been sighted or given any sort of problem.

The Yerfdog is the only 2-seater I know of that's under 50". There are some 150 (and maybe 250?) singles that are legal. Most folks want to widen their buggies (even Rzrs) so the topic of narrowing hasn't been covered much. CRW is the only guy I know that took a regular 150 buggy (Blade) and narrowed it.

For sure the powersports industry has noticed the success of the Rzr and we'll be seeing some similar approaches before long.
