Still on my mission of getting my first buggy. Currently my main concern is price. I have too many other toys to be looking for a top-of-the-line buggy at this point, so just looking for something fun. I have been emailing people regarding used buggies with not much luck (not even responding if I ask them if it's still available).
GIO has a website that often auctions off products for fairly cheap, and even their new prices are reasonable.
I have not seen many reviews, nor is it in the poll for buggy owners, so was wondering if anyone had experiences or comments on these buggies that could steer me towards or away from them.
(only for for auction currently is the 110cc http://www.giobikes.com/Auction/178568/ ... -Two-Seat/)
Any comments are appreciated!
Thanks!

The one review it got said it leaks gas everywhere. Not sure what that's about. Also, looks a bit low to the ground, perhaps it's more of a go cart than dune buggy? Although it may not be an issue depending on the type of driving you are doing.

I have read some nightmare stories on this forum about bad dealers. I would absolutely do whatever it takes to go to a reputable dealer. In the long run, the risk may not be worth the extra money you save.

By the way, I would love a double double right about now.

yea that one in the link wouldn't be my buggy of choice since it's a 110cc and more of a kids size one, but just that site in general. Since I had not heard much about them I wanted to see if anyone had any comments on them.
But until then I will just wait til I find a decent used one!

By the way, I'm sitting here enjoying a large black coffee right now :) but now i'm 0/8 on roll up the rim!

Well this is my cue...

My buggy is actually made by gio. I had (engine transplant) the 250cc version.
Great buggy, ran good...not bad power. but customer service with that company is just garbage. If you get it shipped your going to be paying out the butt for it. They add hidden fees and blame it on the shipping company apparently...even if you ask day and ross, the company they use they will tell you they have no idea of these extra fees. So just somthing to think about.

I won a donut last night...3/23 I think my record is so far.

Ok so decent product, poor customer service. Unless I can win a cheap auction for the 150cc or 250cc I'll hold up on buying from them. I'm sure those hidden fees would be frustrating. As for parts and such, most would be fairly interchangeable between buggy brands?
I'm just getting so darn impatient!
And once summer rolls around I'm assuming prices will go up and less used ones for sale :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling in the Timmys winnings.

Yeah, parts are easy to get considering the buggy is actually a goka/roketa with a cn engine.

cn engine? not the classic GY6? not that I could possibly tell the difference (just see that type engine thrown around on here a lot!)

And a question for ya tj, (or if anyone else has the answer) have you purchased any buggies from the states and brought them over the border yourself? Just wondering the hassle, and taxes and such. I have briefly looked into it, but someones actual experience would be much more helpful.
Thanks.

Sorry, a little late to the party. Been reading sporadically all winter.. getting the itch again now that the sun is shining again. Anyway....

littlesleeper, both of my buggies are GIO's. Got a 150cc & 250cc. These buggies are both pretty solid. Overall construction is good, some parts (lights & switches) are somewhat poor quality. Not bad, just poor. I bought mine used and have had little contact with GIO... which means they didn't answer any of my emails. I've bought a few parts for them from an outfit in Montreal, MBE Motos, Martin was quick with responses and delivery. If you have a look around, you should be able to find a local dealer. That would alleviate the shipping headaches, at added expense of course. There is a dealer in London, ON http://www.giolondon.com/ and another in Smith's Falls (which would be much closer to Kingston) http://rclautomotive.webs.com/. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

Hope this helps.
