What is the engagement RPM for the stock clutch arm springs for a GY6?

I am in the middle of modding the dirty diaper out of my Manco 6150. I went with 13 gram sliders in the variator, yellow springs for both the driven and the clutch arms. I installed an A9 cam. I have a Uni that I'll put in tomorrow and an FMF slip on hopefully on friday.

After doing all of the clutch mods I feel the yellow springs give much to high of an engagement RPM. My kid rides this thing more than I do and I see that I very well may hear "it's not going anywhere...why does it rev so high?".

The purpose of the mods is that I want top end (speed) for outrunning by buddies cart. I am currently at 39.1 mph and I need to get to at least 44 mph to beat my buddy. Aside from that, we do mostly field riding. I have a few acres pretty much flat and have a track on it.

Granted, it launches rather well now but I'm not so sure a super launch is what I need or am after.

I know they make blue springs, yellow springs and red springs. Seems the yellow that I have should be 1500 RPM springs but it sounds a lot higher than that although I don't have a tach to verify and could be very far off.

So what is between stock and yellow? Blue? What is stock engagement RPM and same question for blue?

Thanks!

The blue springs are generally rated as 1000rpm.

As for the stock springs, those can vary by buggy manufacturer.

Like Funnyman said, you'd probably see some definite benefit from a bigger carb. Moving more air and fuel benefits your top end every time.

You are confusing clutch RPM and Engine RPM. When you install 1500 RPM clutch springs, the clutch has to spin up to 1500 RPM - Not the engine.

The stock springs are for 1000 RPM engagement.
