I have pretty much made the decision to go for the Carter GTR300. I thought it was the only dealer by me so I figured I would just go with it. It would wind up costing me $5349 with tax and about another $1000 for a trailer(I would need to get a 6x10 because of the width).

I then found a dealer a little further away(about 75 miles) that too is a Carter dealer and has 2 GTR 250's and would be able to buy it for $4240 inc tax.

So now this became a little wrench in my decision...

Now I just learned that there is a Hammerhead dealer even closer than the Carter dealer and they have the SS250 for $3899 plus tax plus I would be able to get a 5x8 trailer which I would assume would be a little cheaper as well

My question is should I even consider the HH. I figure it will run me about $1200-1400 less that the GTR 300 when all is said and done.

By the way I live in NJ

I can't speak to the quality of the buggies as I don't have personal experience with either, but both brands are known for high quality.

Something else you should be looking at when choosing your dealer is after-sale support. Are they just selling them, or do they service and support their products? Do they have reasonable labor rates and/or warranty work? Can you get spare OEM and aftermarket parts, if you should need them?

These are all questions that should factor into your buying decision.

Good luck with the purchase (I'm secretly jealous! :) )

-Mike

I know you're in Jersey, but where in Jersey?

Did you talk to Tom at KidNMe?

Have you thought about the used buggy market?

There's some really good deals out there right now. I know of one really good deal in New Jersey.

Don't rush into any thing. Take your time... Local support is a factor, but it's not a huge factor. There's enough NEBA members in New Jersey to help you out with repairs and training.

I like the Hammerhead SS250 personally. Do a search on here for each one and see what others are saying about them.

Good luck

Go see as many of them as you can before you make your choice. Sit in one. Maybe you can test drive them, I don't know. I didn't have that luxury when buying either of my buggies. I bought both sight unseen from an internet seller and they were drop-shipped. I came here first, though, to make sure that the brand was decent. Carter, Hammerhead, and Joyner all have very good product support with multiple places to get OEM and performance parts. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those brands. Good luck and keep us posted.

Toms River, cool.
There's somewhere between 4-6 other buggy enthusiats right around you.

Go take a look at each one if you can.. and talk to people on here that have each of them.

whoops I meant to post this here

Well I just got back from seeing the Hammerhead at the dealer and I dont mean to offend anyone but from just looking at it, it really does not even compare to the Carter 300. It looked much cheaper and of less quality. Just my opinion

One thing...how wide are your trails? The GTR is 63" wide, not a problem out west, but some other states have much narrower trails. Something to make sure you absolutely know beforehand.
