Hey guys, finally I found a place I might be able to get some answers on.

I am in the market for a buggy for myself and one for my girls.. I pretty much narrowed my search down to this model, although I have an uneasy feeling as I can not find reviews.... Here is a link. Has anyone have any feedback on these guys? They "look" very well made to my eyes.

Here is the 250cc version, I want the 800cc.. I have been quoted a price of 5,100 shipped. Any info is appericated!!!!!

Well, first thing. This was posted in the wrong place.

I did learn alot in the few days I was here.

Here is what I am looking for... I want a kart with acceleration not really top end speed. I guess this can be obtained via some gearing changes. My issue with the very popular Hammerheard (have a local dealer) is they look too compact if you will. I like the "look" of the stretched wheelbase.

It seems like all the videos I seen on youtube, these karts seem like DOGS off the line. No acceleration whatsoever... Is this normal accross all "stock" 250cc buggies?

Yes it is normal for these things to be dogs of the line when stock. You have to do a few mods to get them to spin the tires off the line.

As regards your fist post BMS is Roketa they came out with the new moniker to avoid some bad press. Run a search for Roketa and you will find plenty. Some have said they are getting better but you will have to decide for your self.

Yeah, I found that bit of information about that company after searching on here. Now... Is there another "proven good track record" model that LOOKS as good as that BMS? Because to me, that design is almost perfect....

minisandrails.net has an 1100 cc that is very similar in design but it may be more money due to the larger engine. I bought a 1000cc from them about a year and a half ago from them that was 4500 shipped, but I dont know there current prices. I am particular to the looks of the joyners. The Sand spider is similar to the BMS but a new one is near 7000.00. Used ones can be had regularly for around 3500 or sometimes less depending were you are located. Here in Phx they are a dime a dozen, not sure hoe the availablity is elsewhere. Try the Craiglist and Cycletrader. Good Luck Van

Thanks for the update.

There is a used Joyner 650 here. I love the looks of those as well. Are they trail capable? As far as size wise?

cis689,
Welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place to research your first buggy purchase

A 250 buggy isn't going to snap your head back off the line but they do have good power and can go half a day on $10 gas (subject to change as prices skyrocket!).
Have a good look at the Joyner 250 and see if you still feel the BMS is "almost perfect". The Joyner is heavier than most but it's geared well and keeps up with the others. Excellent component layout especially compared to the Twister 250 which seems really packed in tight by comparison.

oops! I re-read your 1st post and see you used the 250 just as a brand example but you really want an 800.

They are smaller than the 800 bms, bigger than the 250. Most of the riding we do is trails but here in az trails are pretty wide. Van

I am not set on engine displacement yet. I just want something that is quick, fun, durable and something that I can take on some trails. I live in Northern KY so I am pretty far away from the dunes :) I have owned nothing but ATVs at this point and looking for something different. I do enjoy technical riding more so than anything else.

Thanks again for the info and thanks for the welcome.

The Joyner 650 may be a little wider than you like on ATV trails but handles well on 4x4 trails. I like technical trails and the 650 is geared a little high for me, so I also have a low geared 150cc. The 150cc will climb any hill that the tires can push it up, but it will not make the momentum of a larger buggy. The Joyner 250 may surprise you once you tune the CVT. It has a dual range gearbox to give you low end and high range for speed.

Its a tough call.... Maybe I should go back to my original choice of spending 14k on RZR :)

NOT.

That Joyner is sweet!

The problem I have is that there are no dealers around here for me to drive ANY of these models (accept the hammerhead). I do appericate all the knowledge and willing to help the "new guy"....

I understand your apprehension of buying one of these buggies sight unseen. Update your profile with your location so other buggy owners near you can chime in. Perhaps for the cost of fuel and lunch, some the locals will take you with them and let you try out their rigs.

The dealers on this site have been great and support through this forum many times has more collective knowledge than the manufacturer.

I got the Joyner 650 SS last Fall. They are 62" width. Not bad. The only thing is 1st gear a little tall for slow rock climbing or whatever. I do not have that so far. Did the carb/header and it runs great. Nice ride. A little heavy, but gives nice feel at higher speeds. See Glade at Edgepower Sports. I live in nothern Indiana and working with Glade is almost as easy as walking acorss the street.

Thanks man...

How do you like those RZRs? I drove them several times. They move out fairly well.... Problem is, to get them the way you want them you could buy a damn rubicon for the price.

The rzrs are nice but other than 4 wheel drive I think you will be much happier with the 650 ss from Joyner. I have had several competitions with rzrs and the only thing they do better than the 650ss is rock climbing at low speeds. The suspention on the joyner is miles ahead of the rzr unless you add the long traval kit to the rzr They will stay right with the rzr on desert or sand runs or even jeep trails. And with a turbo on the 650 they will even blow them away on top speed runs. All for half the cost of the rzr or a quarter the cost if you buy used. As a matter of fact I have a 1000cc superkart and a 650cc turbo Joyner for less than the cost of a stock rzr.

Keep in mind this is all in AZ where trail width is not a concern and we have miles of trails as wide as you need. I can see were the stock width of the rzr may come in handy for the cramped trails back east. Van
