I have a chance to Buy a used SunL 150 from a guy that wants another quad.
Overall condition appears to be good, A arms have grease fittings.
He bought it used from his buddy that works for Roketa.

Any ways the price he is asking is $900
Is this to much? And what are the areas of concern I should inspect closely?

Thanks in advance

SRP,

$900 doesn't sound like a drop dead good price for a used Sunl 150, depending on the condition and use of the buggy. For a few hundred more, you could get a brand new (but unmodifed) machine.

First I would determine if it is a 2004 or 2005 model. I've noticed fewer complaints from the 2005 model on this forum.

Next, I would look at the tires - since the Sunl tires wear quickly, it is a good indicator of "mileage" on the kart. If they are well-worn, then it has been ridden somewhat. If they are not stock tires, then it could have already been through one set, and therefore been ridden more. If it has stock tires in excellent shape, then there's a good chance that it wasn't ridden very much - I doubt that a worn set of stock tires was replaced by another set of stock tires.

Stand at a distance from the front and look at the buggy dead-on: is the "roll cage" even , or does it tilt to one side? If it has been rolled, it doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong with it, but it does indicate that it may have been driven fast or on rough terrain. I would inspect the various mounting brackets in the engine compartment to make sure the welds haven't come apart. While you're back there, check that there hasn't been any hardcore bottoming-out issues. If it appears that it was ridden hard, I would avoid it. There could be a reason that you would become the third (or possibly more) owner. Or, it could just be that the previous owners were simply upgrading to a more expensive brand.

Above all, ask some questions. What modifications (if any) have been done? Modifications will generally add value. Is anything broken/not working? Listen to it run - some vibration is normal, but knocking is not. Anything to help you in your decision.

Good luck and let us know what happens.
