I bought a new 12v battery from SYC power sports. It is self sealed, no maintenance and has high cranking amps.

The problem is that the battery box isn't quite big enough to accomodate.

Has anyone found a solution to a replacement that wroks well?

I was thinking of fabbing one up. But, I would rather secure to the frame with clamps or the like.

Thanks.

I replaced the #@*&^% leaking piece of dirty diaper on my Baja 150 before I ever prove it with a lawn tractor U1 battery Wal-Mart $20.00 . Here are some pictures that may gives you some ideas on using your old battery tray.

Oh man, that is a good idea! It looks great. You bought the battery box at Wal-mart?

It looks like you have bolted the box right to the bottom of the original battery box tray. Correct?

No battery from Wal-Mart $20.00 battery box from battery shop $15.00. I'll try to explain how I build this platform. Cut a piece of 5/8" plywood to fit in old battery tray cut another piece of 3/4" plywood the size of bottom of the battery box about 6" X 8 1/2" put small piece in battery tray and line up big piece on top and clamp and drill threw for 1/4-20 flat head bolts On left side a piece of 1" X 1" X 8" lg. angle iron. with a piece 3" lg. on top of buggys square tubing clamped by two bolts. At the other end of angle iron is a piece of angle about 2"lg. bolted to the 8" piece and to the platforms. Battery box drill 4 small holes in middle of box legs and 4 fender washers and dry wall screws and seal in side with RTV. Wal-Mart has battery boxes but my store didn't have small one.
