I just installed a 37 tooth sprocket on my Sahara. Had to take the axle off to do it. Can't wait til tomorrow to try it. I should be able to climb like my Kasea now. (I hope) The new sprocket it 1" bigger than the old. It also came with a new chain. I will post pics and results tomorrow.

I had a 31 tooth sprocket. The 37 tooth will slow me down a little on top end, but should gain alot of low end.

Awesome. Can't wait to see your results.

Where did you get your sprocket?

Jabo-

I installed a 32 tooth sprocket on my Twister. It had a 39 tooth. I lost maybe 2 mph with the 32 tooth. Figure that? My low end with this new carb is unbelievable. I just took it out at 9:50 and was doing donuts and slides in the gravel. Now I have a buggy to be proud of. I am anxious to hear your results of the 37 tooth.

I messed my sprocket up when the tensioner bent. So I'm thinking of going with the Blades double chain system, yes I am a Blade want-a-be. Gear ratio is something I want to get right for low end. Anyone use the split sprockets?

I am going to cut my sprockets in half with the bandsaw so it is easier to swap out. It is a pain in the rear taking the whole axle off to change sprockets.

You don't have to tell me that. :) I did mine last night. It wasn't too bad, just time consuming. I have the double chain/sprocket setup. I don't think we need it, but I like it.

Yeah, the double chain is way overkill on a 150cc buggy. Even the single 530 is still overkill. If you have a machine shop thin down the top sprocket by 3mm then you can run a 520 chain and have lots more options on the lower sprocket. The only difference between the 520 and 530 is width. The pitch and roller size is the same. Just my 2 cents  .

OK, I didn't get any timed runs in. I was to busy having fun climbing mountains with me family. We took both buggies up to the old WWII tower. Last time I went up there my Sahara bogged down and I had to get a push to get me going. This time (because of the 37 tooth sprocket) I made it up with ease. It was fun. My daughter was laughing so hard while we were climbing up the rockey trail (bouncing all over the place) that I could hear her over the roaring of my engine. She was with my wife driving in the Kasea behind us.

Here it the tower. I even climed it. Boy was that scary up there, and very windy. What a view!!!!

Then we got back down the mountain, got back to my truck and decided to do a timed run with the new sprocket. I got it up to 31mph and the belt broke. This is now the second time this happened. I will start a new thread about that.
