I just called the local steel supplier and to inquire about prices etc for material for my Bandit buggy build and he doesn't have any 1" od x .095" DOM tubing (That's what the plans call for) but has 1" od x .125" DOM tubing at about $1 per foot.

Would this tubing be too thick and add too much weight to the buggy or should it be ok?

Sorry I can't answer your question. However Mark what type of motor are you going to use, and what type of drive line? I have a set of Bandit plans myself.

That would mean all things equal your buggy would be approx 27% heavier.

Thanks for the replies
The plans call for 80" of 1"x.095 wall. If I were to substitute .125 wall that would be about an extra 25 lbs.
The rest of the material in the list I can get the correct sizes.
Maybe I'll have to loose 25 lbs !!!

Greg, I am not sure what engine I will use. I would love to get an atv engine with reverse but they are so expensive to buy up here.
It may be a bike engine
I am definately going with the IRS, not sure if I will go with the cv joints or the universal joints like in pmac's bandit.

Aren't they a great set of plans??? :D

They are good, however I also purchased a set of Shredder II plans. They have more instruction, detail, and photos, in addition it's made with square tube. I would like to get a set of Desert Karts plans (the kid cart). I want to get rid of the swingarm on my Dune (cn250 swap).

Make sure you post pics of the build. Everybody likes them, they may not post but they watch, and learn. I post so I can get updates.
Good luck.

Greg

There will be lots of pics and more than likely lots of questions
If everything goes according to plan I hope to pick up the bulk of the build material on Friday [-o<
