Hello everyone I stumbled upon this website a few weeks ago, fitting time I feel since now I have finally decided (talked the wife into letting me) to start my project!!! I have been wanting to build my "project" as I call it for around 10 years now. I have scowered the internet to find a buggy that I like and finally decided to just go a little freestyle on my design. The overall concept is that of the Edge Sidewinder, however I am going to harvest the suspension components off of my donor quad, a yamaha blaster. The roll cage design is my own going off of a couple of other buggies/ ultra lights that I thought looked pretty cool. I am totally excited and can't wait to get things going. My first one is going to be for my kids, and it will be 3/4 scale to the model that I made. Like I said I have been planning this for 10 years I have notebooks consumed with notes and pictures, all through college I planned and planned and finally I decided to just build a 1/4 scale model out of wood dowels, so here is a picture of it so you can all see the invisioned plan I have, things will be a little different however you will get the main ideas, thanks I plan to up date this as my progress goes on.

Thats a good looking frame model. I just finished building a buggy (outlaw 500 buggy). It took 2 years im sad to say. the end is worth the results, but man it was a tone of work and time. so good luck on your build, post lots of pics.

I would be nice if someone could build a small buggy frame that you could buy. Then bolt on common atv parts to complete, like you're doing.
What few kits are out there end up costing 10 grand when completed. And you have to use all their custom parts. May as well buy a new RZR.
Good luck on your build! Sounds like you've done your research. Sometimes the dreaming (most times ) is the best part. And definately post some pics once you start building. Your stick model looks great, by the way!

hey thanks for you guys all replying to my post. First off I am from redding, ca. not arkansa like you might of thought from my name. The razorback name was from a company that I wanted to form a few years ago Razorback off-road products. I wanted to build kit sets that would convert a quad into a buggy, however I have since kinda ditched the idea and just concentrating on building my buggy. My plan for this buggy is to use a small 4 stroke enging since my kids are still small, one is 5 the other is 11. Its going to be a honda xl-75 engine. They will have to learn to drive it with a foot clutch so should be interesting lol. When I eventually build my buggy I want to use either a 600 street bike engine or maybe a cr-500 engine however when I build my own I am going to go with a independent rear suspension and a mid engine design. My son and I started cutting out the tubing for the base frame rails last night, they are made out of 1.5 x 1.5 square tubing .093, I think I went a little over kill on them but oh well it will be strong as devilville! So I got all of it cut out now I will just have to weld it up at work next week and hopefully I can start fabrication of the front and rear hoops of the roll cage. I am planning on using 1.25 x .093 round tubing and attempting to fill the tubing with dry sand and try bending the tube (heated up with a torch) around some 4" pipe I am going to weld up into a jig. I dont want to spend 600 for a pipe bender that I wont use to much, I think this will work, but you guys tell me? If you look at the rear section of the roll cage it is going to be a very complicated bend to do for a novice pipe bender and I think that if I cant bend the tube in the way that I am planning without kinking it, it will be a lot eaiser for me to get all the bends in on the first shot. Just let me know what you think? and what size tubing do you guys usually use for your main sections of your roll cages?
Sorry everyone I know it has been a while since I have posted on here, I have had several other projects of mine get bumped ahead of this one so it has been collecting a bit of dust. I have been completly restoring a old blaster I had, and the crappy economy has really hit home latley so funds have been used for more important stuff. However I did get the chance to chop the old blaster frame I had and weld it to the frame here is a few pics, I am hoping to get some steel in the next couple of weeks so I can begin to fabricate the roll cage and swing arm. Let me know what you all think.
First time I've seen the a-arms on a framless buggy What are the plans for the rear end? Solid, trailing, or a-arm set up? You usint the blaster motor?
