Hi there looking for some help on wiring up my biggy recently just purchased second hand for £100 needs abit work. However before a go crazy buying all new parts I want to see if engine is going to run but the wiring is like spaghetti junction and has all been ripped to bits a dont know if am missing anything or not any help would be appreciated

The parts I see are common parts use on the 250 engine. Do you have a picture of the engine? That would help ID the engine and post you a wiring diagram.

As for the wring itself, how good are you to follow an electrical plan? Redo a wiring can be hard and you need to be able to test every parts and make sure all wires goes to the right place otherwise it will not work.

Not got a picture of just the engine alone however can put one up tomorrow it is water cooled and hasmt ran in over 1 year. Not to ad at following things however looking at the wiring the now that's on the buggy it is a real mess but dont want to go buy new wiring if this can do the job if needed to strip back the wires and re fresh them abit then that's what a will do. Thanks for your reply means alot at such desperate times my friend am in middle of taking it apart the now.the brakes are locked on aswell but I will just remove the calipers and free it up and put them back on. Where will I find new brake pads for the back end? I dont know if this pic of engine is any good but best one I can get till tomorrow once again thanks for reply

That is a CN250 250cc engine. you should be able to look at any of the 250cc buggy manuals posed on this forum to get an idea of the wiring.

Thanks very much what's your opinions on them? Are they good once running? Where will a get parts for it bearing in mind am in Scotland

I am not sure about parts sources in the EU. The dual chain is a less common setup but search for the brands I listed and see what you find.

Buggy parts are always harder to find than popular motorsport brands but usually cheaper.

Can you idetify what this is?

Any help identifying these two things would be a great help and another step closer to getting this buggy on the road

The white box looks like a standard 40A automotive relay. The other one may be turn signal flasher? You may need to trace lines to figure that one out.

So where are the wires from each ment to run to these diagrams I have found dont show ither of these boxes so it's got me abit confused is there any links you can attach for me to click on that should take me to where i need

PGH is right. You have to trace the wires and draw the plan and compare with how it should be. As for the electrical plan, there's many but you need to compare with what you have. Those machines are made in China and plan changed over the years and most of the time, you can't find the exact one for your machine. You need to make sense of it and make it work for you.

Here's the basic thing you need:
- Ignition switch
- CDI
- Ignition coil
- Pick up coil

This will start the machine. At this point you get the rest working, charging system if its not working and the lights. Like I said before to other peoples, start with the engine, if you can't get that working, make no difference if the lights work ...

You can even start with checking if the spark plug work and go from there.

Anyone know what this part is called? Am like a lost dog trying to figure it out. It's where the radiator pipe connects to the engine

This is the thermostat housing. The pipe you see on the top is the output and the other side connect on the engine. The small hose you see, BY MEMORY, is the hose that goes to the carburetor to keep it warm in colder weather. The little sensor you see on the left of the picture is the overheating sensor. At a certain temperature it close the circuit and is usually connect to a buzzer in the dash. If you remove the 2 bolts on the top, the thermostat is under.

Can I start it up without this part?

Right so av decided just to go for new wiring harness as trying to trace all thes wires that are ripped to bits and colours are different is mind bubbling. Its water cooled a dont know what wiring loom is best any help would be much appreciated

Unless you can find service close to you that can work on the Honda CN250 engines, you will have to do most of work. Max did a good job of describing things, so now you really need to trace out wires point to point and disregard wire colors.

Going for a new wiring harness will also bring some problem.

1. You will need to find the wiring harness for your machine or the closest one you can find.
2. If you can't find the right one, you will need to splice some wires anyway and make it work.

If you go wire by wire, you will eventually get it. Take note on the one you did and keep track of the work you do. It look complicated no doubt about it. But if you take your time and go one wire at the time, you will eventually go thru. You have to troubleshoot the problem and find the solution to make it work. You don't have to go thru every wire, just the one that stop the machine to start.

I am working on a project now. I was thinking about using a wiring harness but changed my mind. I will probably do a video and upload it on YouTube so people can see ho the wiring work and ... Now I am trying to think about all problems people can have and try to include it in the video. It will be a redo the wiring harness from scratch.

The principal is always the same on the wiring for those machines. Soon you understand the logic, it will work for you. Of course you need to jump in it.
