Typical 250's have dual output rectifier. One output goes to the battery and the other output goes to the choke. Most 150cc buggies and some 250's use AC power directly off the stator. Your power may be fine, but you were trying to measure AC voltage on the DC function of your meter. Try to measure power to the choke on AV and DC with the engine running. |

Sounds like we have the same problem. If the buggy stone cold it's extremely hard to start. When I take a space heater and let it run on the carb area for approx 10 min, I can get it start quickly, but must rev to get it warmed up. With the space heater it warms up much quicker. I'd have to lean with Pete on this, because I switched the carb and the same problem still exists. Keep us posted. Greg |

I will keep you posted. I am going to take apart the wiring harness tonight to see if I can trace the problem. The good thing is that the Hammerhead manual has a great wiring diagram. |

Update: All the wires are connected and in good shape. I hooked up a meter to the yellow wire going to the choke and tried to to start the buggy and the meter showed 7 volts. No volts when key is on and 7 volts when tring to start the buggy. Is this correct? |

I'm not sure but that's in the ball park when I measure my voltage. I'm starting to wonder if this is a cfmoto issue. On one of my outing I ran into a guy who posted on the forum, and he has a Sand Viper , like my self. I was in the Dune at the time, but after talking he told me he had a hard time getting the buggy started. I told him I had the same problem with mine, the last 2 times I brought it out. I wonder if someone knows how to test the voltage regulator? Greg |
