I have noticed on the inventory I have that the majority of the speedos are ....well...lets just say lacking. Some of them show the speed ok but most of them do not log miles correctly. I have 2 that reset to zero everytime you start them & a couple that show 1.6 miles just pulling them out of the shop to the road, about 300 feet. Have not gotten a good answer yet, but i wouldnt put much hope in any of them being extremely accurate.
So, to answer your question, no I dont know how to fix them, but not sure replacing would do any good either
You might check the sensor on the axle (right rear) just in case you do have a good speedo.

Good luck...

It's a week old its just the fact it should work. :) It was not a cheap buggy to have to go add another $100 part to do what is already on there. I do agree the Vapor has more/better info.

I found the "velocity generator" right above the differential housing. I am guessing that is the speedometer relay? The wires looked good to that but I will have to test it for continuity. It looks like a b$%#& to get to. I think it adjusts up and down so maybe it is too far from it to pick up the signal "magnetic or something"?. Everything else works and the display does a "countdown test" from 9 to zero when it starts so the actual display is good.

that could be it, also see if it has a series of small magnets on the stub axle.

Stub axle? Stumped on that one.... :?

And how would I get odometer and no speedometer?

Anyone know how the coolant light works? The service manual says if it is blinking to slow down and cool off the engine and solid red to stop or engine damage..... well the fan doesnt come on till the light blinks!? I dont know what to think. Yes there are no air bubbles,m good coolant and it is circulating fine. I think the manual is cr@p.

Yeah sorry I figured that out. Man it seems like I have been UNDER this buggy more than IN it! :x

Here is the magnet and the sensor. It appears they line upwell as the magnet passes under the sensor BUT I do not know if this sensor is CLOSE enough to the magnet.

I also checked and my odometer DOES NOT work either! It is stuck at 2.9 miles which is what it was when I picked it up. SO it should be the sensor, the display (though I do not think this is it), or somewhere along the way a bad wire/plug OR a fuse ( though the wiring diagram shows no fuse in line). I did trace all the wires and unsnap and check the plugs and resnap them. SO once I find my meter I can check for continuity and if the wires are fine all the way through then I think I would have narrowed it down to the velocity generator.

Maybe this will all help with DirtTrackKartRacin' buggies too. :)

I will try to lower it today when I get home. The camera angle is a bit skewed , not a lot of room to maneuver in that area so the camera angle is low not dead on.

I just wonder how it worked for 2.9 miles and then quit?
