Hey everyone, im new here so please be patient with me. I have a Baja DN-250 that i picked up from a buddy of mine. The buggy has about 10 hours or so on it so its pretty new. However, there are some issues with it. After he brought it, he decided to ride it on his motocross track, not a good idea first of all. Well he jumped it, when he landed, he snapped the drive/reverse gearbox shaft. So he got a new one, installed it, and tried the jump again, broke it again. From what he said, he only got about 4-5 inches of air. It seems to me that the machine should be able to handle 4 or 5 inches of air. After i took the gearbox out, i noticed that the shaft is made out of pot metal, which is pretty weak stuff. So my questions are, has anyone else had these problems and are there aftermarket shafts that are made a little stronger? Now being a mechanic, im understand the shaft was probably designed week for a reason, i was thinking about getting one made out of aluminum, what do you guys think :?:

welcome to buggynews, those shafts do break but they should take more than 4-5 inches of air to break them. some things to check on it are the chain tension, the gear box mounts. make sure the mount is straight and in line. the shafts I get from kinroad are steel

I did notice that the chain was pretty tight, ill have to adjust it. Also, can you get the radiator and cooling fan for the baja dn-250 as well?

That is awesome news BIGE, thank you for checking up on that for me, i really appreciate it. Also, for the wheels, would a honda 4 wheeler wheel fit on it? I figured since the engine is a honda knockoff, everything else would be a honda knockoff.

some hondas have the 4x110 bolt pattern and some kawasakis have the 4x137. steel wheels would be cheaper, itp or douglas aluminum are more expensive
