Smokes and doesn't run good

Hello everyone,
Just a few issues that need to be resolved. after a year or so of the yerf dog spiderbox not running I have everything running and idling good. the problem is is when I push the gas it doesn't get moving as fast as it should, I know the carb is clean and I just put a 120 main jet in. I had a 125 but had the same issues. It also smoke quite a bit after running it for about 10-15 mins. Should i not be running it until i figure out the acceleration problem?
Any suggestions?

Start by checking your compression.

Is the smoke bluish-gray or black?

Yeah check compression. Then valve clearances. Does she start up and run easily or do you have to work at it?

What does your oil look like?

Oil looks good. I know how to check the valves. How do I check the compression? Is this a sign of something expensive?

You'll need a compression tester. Cheap at Harbor Freigjt.

also on the problem taking off sound like you may have a roller turned in the variator or there worn bad flat spot
that will cause the belt to stay in higher gearing and hard to take off
