Well as previously stated in a couple other posts I've been on the search for cv axles for my roketa gk-39. Seeing how roketa's manufaturer discontinued the gk-39, and a few other buggies, I knew it was gonna be a task. Well I didn't want to place an order on a random cv that looks like it might fit off the internet so I went to roketa warehouse, in Ontario 30 min from me :) I already knew they didn't have my axles but I thought about it... If you were going to start mass producing buggies why would you get different cv's for every kart? Doesn't make sense. Makes more sense that they would order a few different sizes to cover the variety of buggies. 50-150cc, 250-800cc, and 1100 and up. Or for that matter, order all the same inner and outter cv joints and just order different length and diameter shafts for different size buggies. So at roketa I asked to see the cv axles... All of em. I walked into the warehouse and to an area full of em. As I picked up a cv axle that looked exactly like mine an assembly tech proceeded to tell me its an 800cc shaft. He also said that a few different buggies share the same cv joints and axles. I can't remember all of them but I remember him saying the Gk 06 the Gk 12 the Gk 3something and a few more. The numbers on the shaft are GK-8006 2007-04-19. It is an 800cc cv axle and an exact match to my Gk 39. Sadly to say they only had one and the buggies that share the same axle are all discontinued. Along with my Gk 39. Question I have is aren't the karts single drive, not posi? Meaning one tire powers the bug not both. I was under the impression that the right side was forward drive and the left side is reverse. This correct? Im working on getting gearbox shaft seals at the moment so I'm unable to put in drive to find out.

Anybody? I just wana know if I can get away with using one cv axle for forward drive and not use reverse. If so which side is the forward drive side? Passenger? Also, with the engine off, wether I'm in forward, neutral, or reverse my gearbox shafts are locked. Is this the way its suppose to be or does this mean my differential is locked? I figured in forward the right shaft would be live and the left would spin freely and vice versa for reverse. But threwout forward nuetral and reverse the two shafts seem locked together. Or will this change when I put it in gear with engine running and step on the gas? I know what happens with cv axles and locked diff's. Snap, crackle, and pop!!

An open differential spins both wheels but applies power to the wheel that spins easier. This is good for turning on hard pack but bad for traction in loose material. You need to fix both sides to use your buggy.

Drivers side is for reverse.

So it does or doesn't only use one for drive? I know how an open dif works. I just don't know Wut these buggies have.

Yours uses a standard open differential.

the axle that is the drive axle powers both forward and reverse, as far as I have seen, I have not seen one for forward and one for reverse.

Ok. I thought drivers side reverse and passenger side drive. Looks like I need to get another cv axle. Thanks.
