Post subject:  Alternative Parts list for ROKETA 800 GK-25 GK-32 Joyner BMI

This is a topic that is related only to PARTS that WORK for Roketa (& Joyner) 800cc buggies and also MOD'S that are indispensable for these chinese buggers
fast / cheap / used replacements for OEM parts & LINKS to good PDF's such as service manuals etc and LINKS to good priced parts retailers here in the USA or in your local area...Ill be glad to make a list of that

SO THIS THREAD DOESNT BECOME OVERLY LONG please PM me your questions or responses THANKS

okay so it's getting harder and harder to find Pistons Rings head gaskets etc for this particular motor what I found recently is that the Kazuma Mammoth 800 motor is same same as HUAIHAI 800
I was able to find parts on eBay at a good price.

Engine complete gasket set $39

piston ring set 3 cyl $85

2017 prices

(OEM Roketa parts cost about 3-4 times what they should because they are "specialty" etc...) so that's why I started this post....ALSO Im finding it can be annoying to have to read 30 or 40 buggy threads to scrounge up some info...I will try and include the best info here :-)

some items listed could use a part # / price if you know it..or another alternative / high end replacemnt (King/Fox) item as alt usable parts....please chime in and I will add it to the post list!

Let's make this easy for each other and for new users buggy newbies etc!
=====include a part number# =====where the part is available from locally IE: Napa / Autozone / Home Depot / Orielly / Jegs / Goldenvale / if online... where it is available with a link =====A price for the part / parts=====What vehicle the part may cross reference to (such as 1987 Chevy Sprint 3 cyl or 1997 Geo Metro 3 cyl 1.0 manual trans)==include a photo if possible

After going to our 1rst Buggy Bash @ Valley of Fire NV....I decided that we were UNPREPARED compared to some of the attendees....that being said...here's a list of things I think that YOU SHOULD HAVE on your buggy for extended trail rides! like 5 to 50 mile rides
a Spare Alt/Water pump belt~
a Tool Kit with the basics...
a small socket set / wrench assortment / dikes / pliers / needle nose / philips and regular screwdriver / duct tape / 4' of electrical wire for wiring repairs /
a couple spare LUG NUTS and a socket that fits your lug nuts!
Cotter pin assortment or atleast some bailing wire and some ZIP ties / some spare nuts / bolts / washers / a couple band aids / some misc hose clamps
a Quart of oil / a canteen of water or an extra water bottle for your radiator
a cheap LED flashlight! Imagine trying to do repairs trailside on a moonless night
a Tow Strap
a spare front tire rim assy for your front (will fit on most backs too) you can leave this at camp if you have some fix a flat or a bicycle tire pump and a plug kit with ya on the trail

OTHER handy items to bring (leave it locked in your truck of-course) is a WELDER! / a floor jack / air compressor with air chuck and blow gun mebbe even an impact wrench / an angle grinder w/ a cutoff wheel & a flap disc / a couple small sections of steel angle iron & steel tube / rubber gloves / air filter oil / spare air filters

ALL INFORMATION IS DEEMED RELIABLE BUT NOT GAURANTEED please double check any info/specs/crossover info YOURSELF

here's some more specshttp://www.icbm.com.au/mightyboy/specs.htm

Check your ignition spark timing! these babys are notorious for NOT being timed well from china...or previous owner messed it up...double check yours SPEC is 7 degrees before top dead center...theres a small rubber plug in the trans case on top/rear of trans...remove it and there's supposed to be a mark on flywheel inside for timing...---->plug the vacuum advance when checking base timing!
ALSO I read online that once you upgrade your carb and exhaust headers etc...advancing the timing to like 12 degrees @ 900rpms and about 36 degrees @ full advance at 3000 rpms with the vac advance attached -- is a good setting with high octane fuel...watch for pre-detonation (ping) if you get that retard the timing until you're happy with it! DONT BLAME ME if you bend a rod os something like that....these are just IDEAS for you to take witha grain of SALT!

CV boot/s ~ Precision CV boot part #5860 price $9.99 ~works perfect for outer CV....comes with cv grease and clamps....for inner cv the supplied clamp is a little too big....so needs alternative clamp (I used a large 3 1/2" hose clamp) or BUY a basic CV boot clamp set (adjustable) as a hose clamp will work only on one side, on drivers side a hose clamp will hit tranny... CHECKER orielly etc

Front Shocks (stock roketa shocks are 23" Eye to Eye on the GK-32 and some GK-25's the older model I have is GK-25 with shorter 16" shocks Eye to eye) ---> Yamaha Raptor 660 shocks are also 16" for older GK-25s / RZR shocks are 23 1/2 inches and may work also

ADDED info The rear stock Fox shocks for a RZR XP 900 are about 23 1/2" long and might be a good alternative. If you keep your eyes open they can be found pretty reasonably. These are sold but a good example: http://www.rzrforums.net/polaris-rzr-parts-sale/71145-2011-xp-900-stock-shocks-springs-300-a.html

http://www.rzrforums.net/polaris-rzr-parts-sale/ is a good place to look first. Members list theirs for sale pretty often when they decide to upgrade.

Rear Shocks (stock Roketa rear shocks are " 23" Eye to Eye) ---> NEEDING MORE INFO and shock alternatives (fox/king/and some atv type shocks that one can get used that are better than stock etc)

Headlight bulb H3 Halogen Bulbs 55w is stock but you can upgrade your headlights to 100W bulbs cheap out of hong kong $2.49 shipped for 2x 100w H3 bulbs on ebay

Brake / Tail light bulb NEEDING INFO

800cc CARB replacement alternative carbs that bolt on easy and works well (Such as weber / holley or some motorcycle carb (mebbe even a EFI unit off a sport bike etc)
one member used a WEBER 32/36 DGV downdraft carb with his turboed 800 WORKS GREAT...
I just got a WEBER DCOF side draft carb very similar to the WEBER DCOE racing carb I will be making a custom intake to fit it...if this works out super well I will probably be fabbing up and selling em to people that can't or don't weld or fabricate things etc...will keep ya up to date on this progress (today is March 22nd 2012)

PARTS for engine internal!!! Prices from a call into ROKETA.com on March 22nd 2012 Goldenvale Inc out of sunny california OVERPRICED PARTS!

Pistons $65 each but you must buy 3 so = $195
RINGS $45 per set x3 = $135 Im in the process of looking into HASTINGS out of detroit mich area for USA replacement rings!
Head Gasket $35
Engine Bearings $20 each pair (I believe there are 7 pairs in the 3 cylinder 800cc motor (3 pairs rod bearings, 4 pairs main bearings)

NO OVERSIZE PARTS available from roketa.com....just stock stuff....

PARTS prices from Bob aka GOKA on buggynews of Klung Industry out of china...I had a good buying experience from Bob and Klung...that being said I make no gaurantee your experience will be the same...all I can do is offer information...check out parts sellers...etc yourself...do your homework...and dont blame me for your problems with selers or parts not matching....etc

Bob Qiao -Klung Industry Co.,ltd" Bobs email--> info@klung-motor.com
price is subject to change ofcourse...this was what I was billed June 2012
1 Headgasket 20USDx1
3 sets piston rings (3 cyl motor...3 sets rings) 50USDx1 (this is for the complete engine )
3 pistons 30USDx3
1 timing belt 20USDx1
1 valve cover gasket 10USDx1
1 oil pan gasket 10 USDx1
1 set of main bearing 40USD (4pcs)
1 set of rod bearing 30USD (4pcs)
+ $80 shipping DHL

I am currently looking into better parts, performance parts, and oversize parts such as .010 over pistons and rings etc so local machine shops can bore out your out of round or worn cylinders .010 or .020 over stock diameter will keep ya UP TO DATE on any findings

Oversized Pistons: Arias out of calif supposedly makes Oversized pistons...custom...as well as Wiseco and a few others...but you're gonna pay about $175 or so PER HOLE and will likely have to order a set of 4 pistons...so youre looking at a substantial COST to oversize your kart motor due to wear..plus you'll need machine work to block etc etc...a better alternative is probably stuff a geo 1000 motor and tranny in....or use stock parts etc...unless you're set on high compression racey motor etc
http://www.wiseco.com/Catalogs/Automotive/CustomOrderAuto.pdf FOUND custom order ANYTHING you want from wiseco...want 11-1 compression? special dome? etc etc...here's thier online order form pdf...:-) neato! Not sure of COST though lol somewhere's about $150-200 per piston

Made another discovery. On my buggy, the starter solenoid was bad. I ended up removing it and just using a mower solenoid to send power to the starter and after a few tries itd fling the arm out and start. Now I don't have to do that! On eBay, a starter solenoid for a john deere 316 loader is identical! http://www.ebay.com/itm/172600385579 Got mine in today and it works great! Also the gasket kit I posted a while back fit quite well. It's a universal kit so there's some things i didnt use and there's some things it didn't include but overal, for $40 I'm satisfied.

HUGE FIND HERE GUYS! was searching for a head gasket for my gk-25 when I stumbled across this. http://m.ebay.com/itm/121891847655
$40 for a complete engine gasket kit and it's in the US! I just ordered mine. Is supposed to be here within the week. I'll try to let you know how it goes, but if there's anyone even remotely interested, I'd jump on it while you can! Hope this helps

I have no experience as of yet with the above side draft dcof carb and install etc I AM ASSUMING an adapter plate would needed / found / made or a custom intake manifold made... I plan on making a custom intake for my own buggy..will post the results here

Also the racing version Weber DCOE is an awsome carb (side draft) custom intake manifold would be needed $175 used to $375 for new,,,would have to be jetted down alot and the motor would have to be hot rodded IE high compression/turbo/headers/porting etc...plus you would need custom intake fabricated...

DONT BUY IT unless you are capable of making a CUSTOM intake manifold like I did..and YES its a super duper pain in the butt to make...go with the SUZUKI downdraft kit...WAY easier and works VERY WELL...especiallly if you add the turbo kit!the WEBER 32 DCOF is for a FIAT 1.4L may work also for joyner 650 hotrod motor (sidedraft!) found em NEW on ebay for $89 !!! I bought one! will keep ya up to date on the custom intake and air filter etc that I end up using once installed...

and the weber 32 DGV may bold directly on? (downdraft) or with adapter plate?

any? 3 motorcycle slide type carbs off a 750-1200cc 4 stroke motor...
perhaps a 400 to 500cc 2 stroke carb trio would work too

super handy for those NOT wanting to fabricate anything...although they MAY have to drill out the hole and tap it to the correct size for the fan on/off sender...(the tapped hole is 1/8" NPT) pipe thread...

would work very well for a temp sender of-course too... heck I'm gonna order one of the 32mm adapters....

heck while I'm at it (link crazy) check out these K&N filter deals...best prices I have found yet! http://stores.ebay.com/K-and-N-Auctions/_i.html?rt=nc&_sid=120062524&_sticky=1&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14&_sop=12&_sc=1

here's K&Ns website with ALL THE SPECS so you can choose your filter for your need ... this is the UNIVERSAL FILTERS chart... http://www.knfilters.com/universal/universal.htm

hope this helps a few people! :-) 8)

Here is GMANLV Greg's solutions for his honda radiators, also NOTE he added an aluminum plate to hold the FAN...so it doesnt rub the fins/cooling passages are delicate...they get damaged easy.. a loose ZIP tie etc can cause the fan to bang around.... also USE SOME RUBBER to isolate the radiator from direct metal contact! the factories do it ...so should you!

ok the PRO's use 1/4 mesh screening in FRONT of thier radiators to keep errant ROCKS from ruining thier race day....I am doing this to ALL my karts...they zip tie it to the front of the radiator about an inch or more away (so when a rock hits it doesnt contact the radiator fins!)
heres the update on that

BETTER aftermarket brake cylinders that actually will work with the roketa/joyner brake discs....and bolt up easliy
Ceramic clutch disc (racing part) that will work with the 800s
and looking for a good place/price to get EXHAUST HEADERS so I can let other know (as headers really open these motors up!)

Please let me know via a PM

Rear Shocks (stock Roketa rear shocks are " 23" Eye to Eye) ---> NEEDING MORE INFO and shcok alternatives (fox/king/and some atv type shocks that one can get used that are better than stock etc)
The rear stock Fox shocks for a RZR XP 900 are about 23 1/2" long and might be a good alternative. If you keep your eyes open they can be found pretty reasonably. These are sold but a good example: http://www.rzrforums.net/polaris-rzr-pa ... 300-a.html

http://www.rzrforums.net/polaris-rzr-parts-sale/ is a good place to look first. Members list theirs for sale pretty often when they decide to upgrade.

A lot of good info guys thanks. But I am sorry to inform you that the front shocks a my roketa GK32 are not 16" eye to eye, they are 23" like the rear shocks. I know this because I bought some 16" Fox Coilovers on ebay after reading this post because the bidding was about to end and when I went to measure my shocks I was sadly disappointed.

If anyone is interested in used Fox coilovers rebuilt with fresh oil and charge let me know. You will need new bushings as it did not come with them. $200 for both you pay shipping.

I am new here and new to the roketa thing. I have spent the last two weeks trying to get my GK-32 running after sitting through two years of Vegas heat and weather. well after replacing allot I have narrowed it down thus far to needing a master cylinder for my brakes on this bad boy, but i cant find a suitable sub any suggestions?? also cant get the brake lights to work so i need to make sure it comes with the brake switch that is mounted to it?
