Post subject:  Can someone measure an axle for me?

I have an older SSR kart that I swapped a R1 motor into and snapped an axle. Im trying to find a new axle but being an SSR, crossing part numbers is difficult. I THINK the Roketa GK-25 axles are the same. Can someone do the same measurements I did to their axle and confirm its the same length? The inner CV cups on mine are welded and not removable so I cant get an overall length measurement, so im measuring from the grooves on the axle shaft where the CV boots clamp down. I get almost exactly 12". Any help would be most appreciated.

I don't have a GK-25 or I'd be happy to help you out...I think the 32/34 axles are the same, though, so I can measure those and post it tomorrow.

What year model R1? The first generation will be pushing it...anything after 2005 and I wouldn't even both with the stock axles.

Motor is from an '07 so its ~160hp. I know its a bit much but the failure looks a lot like flaws in the steel. Very porous looking. Well give a another stock axle a shot before dropping the coin on full custom axles. Stronger axles are in its future anyway since it will eventually see a couple pounds of boost.

Anyway here are a few more pics. I have not had the time to pull it completely apart but even if I do I wont be able to get a accurate measurement of the complete axle since the inner cups are welded into the bearing housing.

Yeah I really don't think a live axle is going to do it for you...you'll spend a couple hundred bucks on a replacement stock axle. It's going to be better for you to go ahead and drop the cash. I'm going to be running a 954RR engine and I'm not even going to attempt to make it work with the stock axles.

GK34 axles are roughly 22" long (have a guess a little since I don't have it stretched out in front of me, does not include however much of the male end is in the hub).
