I am considering making a custom windshield out of 1/8” or ¼” lexan for my 650cc Joyner Sand Viper. I figure I can use hose clamps to hold the windshield to the buggy frame. I was torn between using a single piece and shaping it to wrap around, or cut the pieces and using a couple of aluminum strips to form the angles. Has anyone made a custom windshield for a Joyner Sand Viper or other buddy? Pics are appreciated for ideas. Thanks, Vincent |

I didn't make this one, but kept the picture due to the wiper that was added.

Yea if your riding around mud or water holes you need to be able to clean it. I've heard of a couple of people that removed their windshield due to poor visibility. My question is how easy does lexan scratch? An old school hand operated wiper would be an easy install but if the lexan scratches easy, it won't be long before you can't see at all. |

Lexan is more scratch resistant than regular Plexiglas but that doesn't mean much... I hear it's pretty good but for a windshield I have no idea. |

I have heard of people having problems with overheating because of the windshield restrickting air flow just a thought. |

Mines pretty well hidden and stays cool. Wish I had a windshield, dragon flys in the forhead at 85 hurt like hell. |

I replaced my stock clear plexi with tinted lexan, it isn't very scratch resistant my five year old (cleaned) it for me and left some nice scuff marks right at eye level. I do think it's more impact resistant, but I don't want to test that. |

I put this together for a friend. The windshield frame is welded steel and the glass is tinted DOT safety glass. I used a rear window wiper motor from a Isuzu Trooper ($35 at junk yard). Attachment:

Does the frame quickly release 4 of road? How much $Money$ to fabricate another frame 4 me that accommodate's a front basket??? No glass or wiper i will source that localy. Better and safer to ship without glass. |

So you think a local signmaker may be the best source of Lexan? A simple one with tube clamps may be on my list for next year. |
