Has anyone heard of the Boxer 150, it is just like the Sahara 150, exceot the older version....

MRP makes a pipe for it, and i am wondering if anyone has tried it before...

I just got the Boxer 150 free from a friend, and all it needed was a carb, and i am wondering what modifications to put on it to boost power.....

Thanks--- Will

Hi Will-

Your "more power" modifications are definitely in upgrading your air/fuel flow systems: Air intake, carburetor, and muffler. The better these components are, the more power you get.

Most people here dump the stock airbox intakes for a clamp-on UNI filter directly to their carburetor. Combine this with an aftermarket muffler and rejet your carburetor to handle the better airflow and you'll be on your way! 8)

There are other mods for increasing your low-end power, overall torque, and general responsiveness when accelerating, such as new rollers (or sliders - same thing, different design) and main clutch torque springs. Adjusting these can give your buggy a dramatic difference in feel and climbing ability.

On the 150cc, many people get a Yellow Main clutch spring (1500rpm), and roller weights based on what they want to do:

- Lighter roller weights (7-9g) will give you more climbing power at the cost of some top end speed.

- Heavier roller weights (13-15g) will allow you more top speed at the serious expense of climbing ability - but are great for flat-ground racing.

- In the middle range (10-12g) is a combination of the 2.

I've got the MRP pipe that you're asking about and will be testing it out myself in just over a week. I expect to be very happy with the performance.

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

-Mike

Will-

Here's one of the best installation guides I've seen. I described what the rollers do in the last post, this guide shows you all about installing them in the variator, and also how to change the main clutch torque spring (a common pair to upgrade at the same time).

This guide is from this thread and was written by Dewmanity:

thats a great installation guide, the mrp exhaust does NOT just bolt on. you might have to move the battery, put some dimples in the pipe at diff. locations to clear the valve cover, swing arm brace etc.

it does make good power and sounds good.
