I would suggest to all interested to not buy the MRP performance 250 head for your hammerhead. I got it, $250, and compared it to the stock head. Everything seemed to fit and look right so I installed it. After several hours of trying to get it running with no success I realized that the exhaust valve was not closing and that it was bent. I figured that I made an error while setting the timing which caused the damage. I tried to order a new exhaust valve but MRP doesn't sell the valves seperately so I ordered another new MRP head ,$250, and this time took it to a dealer to have it installed correctly. After attempting to get my buggy working with the second MRP head the mechanic found that the head indeed does not fit correctly. The cradles that hold the cam bearing and cam are lower which caused the exhaust valve to hit the piston and scor the cylinder. So now to fix the motor I had to have the cylinder bored to 270cc and install a bigger piston. I then had the MRP titanium valves and springs from the second MRP head install in the stock head and that seems to work. I definately have increased the compression and performance by doing all of this but I sure wish that there was some way to get my money back for the parts that didn't work.

Good to know. Thanks for the post, sorry about your trouble, though.

Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for your troubles. Will the place you bought it from do anything to help you out?

so the head does not fit the cf moto engine found in the hammerhead 250, joyner, Blade. looks and sounds like it only fits the cn 250.

there is a guy on here that put one on his, he had the high/low tranny that engine is a cf moto. he had clearance issues because the head is a diff height. I think Tom's is a cn 250.

the cf and the cn are diff. heads, cylinders so you have to get what fits each one.

When I get a chance I'm going to give tom a call to see if we can get a update. I thought tom was putting it on a hammerhead I may be wrong.

Is the extent of the difference just the heads? Like for instance will the big bore kit bolt up still?

Tom has a TJ performance head on his Twister 250, with a CN 250 motor. He does not have the CF moto...

We had some tuning issues, bu the head is useless without some major flow from a carb.

He is still waiting, last i checked, for a carb from TJ... They seem a little slow with the shipping, as they promised in a week, and here it has been over 3...

I would try and email Joel at MRP and find out of there is any wey he can help you out with your damages... They may offer assistance, they may not, but at least try!!!

Remember.... You catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar...

I wonder how different the TJ head is from the MRP head... From what i remember, the head was only a stock head, ported and the performance valves and springs installed... To me, it would be easier to find out who is selling these springs and valves and bring your head to a shop to get the work done, as opposed to guessing if it is right for your buggy, and taking the chance like HH250 did...

Good luck HH, and hope you get something back from this experience aside from a headache!

John
