yea i just saw those on ebay. it looks like you have to get new hubs and stuff though. i dont think they come with them. anyone know if these are anygood?

It looks like you would tighten the hub against the included split clamp collars. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Will those collars hold strong and allow you to tighten the hub nut? I do understand why they did this--reducing the end so there's a shoulder for the bub to seat against is how Yerf did it--and is why they snap. Maybe it's not so important to tighten the nut to "X" foot-pounds with a keyed shaft & hub. ?

I don't see how the split clamps come into use because the lateral forces on the hub are large when drifting the rear end. Maybe they are just spacers between the hub and axle step? Are you saying there are no threads on the ends?

At $70/ea, I wonder what type of material they are using. Will the axle and keyway hold up to rigerous use?

The ridge runner we have has the lock collar on it at the axle bearing.I wonder what it is for?

That's there because Yerf Dog began using a (somewhat) standard 1" axle bearing in mid 2005. The set screw doesn't serve any function here because the axle is set in place by the machined shoulders at the insides of the bearings.

Hey Mark, where did you get that HD Axle that was on your old buggy? Yes, was on it... It broke in August, snapped at the splines.. I had to put a stock axle back on her.

How was the collar setup on that axle?

I don't see the point of selling just the axle when, if you have a stock setup, you'll need the new hubs as well. Not yet anyway. If Steve can put an entire package together it may be worth it..

Do they make a hub with the same bolt pattern as the stock Y'Dog that will fit that new axle? If not, it could get expensive real quick.

Chris that was a standard Yerf axle on my old buggy. I think better shocks & not-too-aggressive, soft tires (Mud Lite) helped it to last that long.

So then the clamp collars ARE for holding the hubs on the inboard side? What kind of torque can you achieve on the hub nut without the collar moving?

Hmmm, for some reason I thought it was an upgraded axle. I'm glad you had a spare then...

Between Adam and I, we've each busted a stock axle. The spares that we had are just stock, so at some point I should think about getting an upgraded axle or two. I just don't have the spare change to get one at these prices..

Having to purchae new axles, hubs and wheels is a big expense for two buggies. I've got another spare axle (albeit in South Jersey), so I've got some cushion.

I'd love to try this one from BMI and compare to the BuggyDepot upgraded Axle.
