Post subject:  Far East paddle tires
Has anyone tried the Far East Paddle tires on a Sand Viper 250cc, I'm headed to the.dunes in April & need to get some tires.

Hi,i have a set,off the line very aggresive,takes goobs of hp to turn these tires. You have to be able to spin tires to get up on top of sand write away. I don't remember what tires Team Farm is running,they worked 5 times better than the Far East. The only way i know that i can make these tires work,add another 20 hp or cut them down,which i prob.will do.Ghost

Just from experience with my kasea AB250....it did not do well at coral pink dunes in Utah...paddles or not...not trying to be a downer on the 250 buggies but we had to be pulled out so many times with the quads in our group it ruined the trip. Now this was soft stuff ..on the hard pack in the parking lot it did very well. what dunes do you plan on going to????

Most 250's can get away with flipping the dirt tread over (right to left) and do well in sand. I run these shaved tires with scoops and will be trying my Dune Stars on my modified 250 next time we head out. The ITP's is what Team Farm is running on his 650. The 150's do well with the Zipper-type tread and might be an option for the 250's. No matter which buggy, I suggest running the largest footprint front tire you can fit at maximum pressure while running minimum pressure on the rears - The more flotation and less front drag you can get, the better these buggies will run.

The Far East paddles (the ones I & Ghost have, I know of only this option in paddles from F.E.)
SUCK -- on Shebugs GTR250 !!!
(Ghost isnt happy with these even on his 650cc)
way too agressive for the 250cc, way heavy, & altho they are 25" we lost lots of overall heigth/ground clearance on the GTR.
Shebug made me take these back off almost immediately & now we run the 250 with the tread reversed & aired down Looooow, front tires as wide as i can get away with & as Pg stated - aired up alot to get the front to float over tha sand...
and she does very well in the dunes with the GTR

WOW, thanks for the great info! Seriously, what do u you guys think of the ITP Sand Stars or Sand Gekos? Like everyone else in the world "I'm on a budget" that's why I was askingabout the Far East Paddles, but I wanna get something that works too, my ride is still stock, although I will be installing a new cvt belt next week. I make a 9 hour Drivetime fronteras San Antonio TX to El Paso TX to visit & ride, "Red Sands"

If your engine is stock, reverse your dirt treads or go with the 22x10-10 AMS Zipper for less than $32/ea:

A great tire for soft sand 'on my 650', not cheap, very much sand specific (you'll wear em out & chunk them up quickly if running on any rocks/hard pack/gravel) but probably too aggressive, too heavy for a stock 250cc.

The AMS Zipper;
I luv these lit'l tires !! epecially for the small'ish powered, lite buggys. we run these on the 150's. Awesome if you like 'drifting' as my boys do, truely a great sand tire (wide, floats well, tread allows for sum wheel spin w/out digging in, inexpensive) Id have luved to have found these in a 25x12x12 for the Gtr250; but 22" iz the tallest i could find in this type of tread pattern :roll: and in the GTRs case would loose too much ground clearance.

Shebug can take her 250cc 'almost' anywhere the 650 plays while out in the endless deep soft sand dunes (soft sand can be tuff for the 250's, too much tire grip, u bog too much & loose momentum or just dig in)

The best paddle tire for the 250cc buggies is the Kenda 22x11x10 Dune Runner - if you can still find them.

I tried a few different paddles but they weren't any better than the stock tires, and some even slowed me down. The Kenda's have a very wide footprint for floatation and 8 not-too-aggresive paddles for climbing. The next best choice would be the Zippers or 8-paddle Scat Traks (on Kenda casings) in PGH's post. Keep the air pressure at 3.5 to 4.0psi for best sand performance.
