While riding 2 weeks ago, I noticed that the parking brake no longer worked. I found that the reservoir for the the parking brake was empty. I knew it was full before we went so I thought that the brake line must have been broken. I have recently replace my rear shocks, and thought that the additional travel in the rear suspension may have broken or pinched the brake line or fitting at the caliper. I took off the tire yesterday and found that the caliper and the metal part of the brake pad was melted. The part of the caliper that the piston pushes against was curled out with melted bits of metal that looked like a sloppy soldering job. The inner brake pad was deformed like a lazy "C". I could not tell exactly but a assumed the brake fluid leaked from around the caliper. The brake disk dosen't seem to be damaged.
I think this must have happened when my son took the buggy out by himself. He has a habit of not releasing the brake.
Although this won't keep the buggy off the trails, its something that needs fixing.
